New York City

Lol. Looks like more taxes, tolls, and increases in cost of living. I bet there’s tons of real estate available to build “affordable housing”. Hope he has the power to force people to stay.
Affordable housing. Lol. Dudes agenda is the "adult" version of someone running for 5th grade class president and promising water fountains that dispense 4loco and pizza everyday in the cafeteria.

I’ll run on increasing to $30 minimum, which will force your employer to potentially lay you off. It’s a viscous cycle.

Yes he has no plans that he's articulated several times for any of these things, they just magically happen by destroying NYC or whatever other bad faith BS Fox puts out there

From the creator of "out of the shoot," we now have "viscous cycle" lol
That missing “i”, was in honor of your missing (.) See grammar matters. Mark you down as not disagreeing with $30 min. wage, creating a cost of living issue for those laid off.

Matt Walsh was talking about how he wants a regime change fight in NYC. Billionaires like Ackman acting like they have a surprise candidate that will win. All these bad faith "drain the swamp" posters suddenly huge supporters of the establishment lol

two of his goals are at a cross roads. well probably more than two, but I am going to focus on the two I can speak the most directly towards.

he is going to freeze rent. which completely disincentivizes any new housing to get built. in a place like New York developers plan out their ROIs over a fairly long period. being stuck with the same rent is going to make it very difficult.

he claims his next act will be increasing the amount of housing available. who is he going to get to do that? And where. I don't know if you know this, but New York doesn't have a lot of available space. they aren't going to tear down the more expensive real estate to build cheap stuff, they are going to have to tear down cheap stuff to build more cheap stuff. that is still a very long and expensive process. especially if it is all/majority publically funded. that means every single step is going to be open to the public to weigh in.

so he is going to freeze some of the city's income by capping rent, and he is going to need to spend more money to get anything new built. he is going to have to cut a metric buttload of red tape to get anywhere close to that.

its far more likely he will try on both things, fail, but still raise even more debt. while probably making the housing situation worse.

Don't threaten me with a good time

You have to be trolling. You want government owned grocery stores? Government rent controls and more government housing. lol and I don’t even know what he means by “expanding and protecting gender affirming care” unless he means “make tax payers pay for it and open it up to minors”.

Can’t imagine anyone would support this. These are the kind of ideas that only sound to wealthy white liberals who’ve never had an actual job in their lives (him minus the white). And the voting data shows that. He was destroyed in non white neighborhoods

The rent freeze is specifically for rent-stabilized apartments, which has been done in NYC several times already, not every apartment in the city. The affordable housing point is in large part about cutting through red tape (as you alluded to) that delays a lot of approved projects. I understand your point but I also think there is a lot of intentional mischaracterization of his positions, which again raises the question of why right wingers with no connection to NYC need to do that (I'm talking about LibsOfTikTok types, not you)

And the destruction of NYC will be glorious to watch.
People talking about how the "destruction of NYC" is about to happen are just like the people thinking Fulmer was just about to turn it around after 2008, or Marcus Mariota was just about to become a good NFL starting QB if only he got another 12 chances to prove it. Ain't happening

You do know that a district of NYC has reelected AOC multiple times already. And she has done nothing for them except turn Amazon away. His strategy will probably work.

for me in particular this impacts my field. my office does some work up in NYC. and we have multiple developers who get "used" to dealing with their home city, and then spread that to other cities. in the past with different items it has still been a net negative. slower development/higher cost/fewer units
