Recruiting Football Talk VIII

So you’d rather have Josh Allen at Tennessee than Heath Shuler?

Shuler was the Heisman runner up and SEC POY. An all-time Tennessee legend. But he was an awful pro.

Josh Allen is one of the 2-3 best QBs in the NFL right now. In college, he was a 56% passer and interception prone.

Give me Shuler. I’m much more concerned about what they do at Tennessee than in the pros.

If Josh Allen was surrounded by the level of talent in college Heath Shuler had he would have won the Heisman and a national title at Tennessee.

The reason guys like Allen shine in the pros more than college is because there isn't as big a gap in talent between teams in the pros. This allows individual talent to be more easily detected. Versus in college where an average QB can look like a star if he's surrounded by Ohio State level talent while playing teams like Rutgers and Purdue every other week.

Pro production is a more accurate measure of his talent than college production which is more varied due to difference in talent between college teams. Basically a guy can look great in college but not really be that great.

I think Tristen Keys is good. But he's not worth getting into a bidding war over. Use the money he's seeking to sign 3-4 other quality players.
Here again you are wrong. NFL production has zero to do with collegiate talent. Tebow was one of the greatest college QBs ever. He wasn’t that successful in the NFL. That doesn’t change the fact of how talented he was in college.

No he wouldn’t have. Not even close.

Allen was very raw in college. And when he first got to the NFL. He had a great toolset, but needed to be developed a lot. There’s a reason he was at Wyoming and not somewhere bigger. If you saw Allen play in college, you’d know what I mean.

No need to post the article, but ole Diego is already running his mouth. He said the Vanderbilt is going to run Tennessee this year. He also said that people only come to Tennessee to see Nashville and that Vandy has the most NIL money (?) lol. All those hits he took might be adding up.
He better stop playing. 'Diego Pavia' sounds like "illegal alien" to me....20250125_231147.gif
