Yeah, it's called Taco night here also. Same stuff.

hell, that’s even taco night for some Latinos I’ve known. I worked with a Mexican dude a few years back who said his mom put more effort into making burgers than she ever did tacos lol

No clue why they seem to think this is some midwestern exclusive thing.

The travel ball thing seems like a huge racket. Everyone I know hates it, and I honestly don't want my kids to do it. But I also don't want to deprive them of it if they get really into baseball or any sport that has it. Tough situation.
My son played baseball from t ball to coach pitch thru little league and then on to jr high and then through high school. He played football from jr pro all the way thru jr high and then thru high school.. He wrestled two years, Played on the golf team a couple of years. We traveled across the state through the little league all star tournaments and then baseball districts, regionals, state tournaments etc thru his high school years and of course the football playoffs as well. Point being, with us it was year round ball of some sort even without the so called "travel ball". We know quite a few who did though. It gets very expensive over time and tends to lead to a lot of kids eventually getting burned out and giving up the sport.

So tonight we have a scrimmage to get ready for district. Our third base lady missed a pop up. No big deal [because it's 8 year olds playing softball for fun]

Good man. These parents are nuts. Lost all sight. Just hoping their kid can get a scholly...in about 10 years...and save themselves 100k in tuition 😅🤣.

"...the overwhelming fan favorite for quite some time has been Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello."

I thought Tony is too "classless" for a bunch of Hogs?? Also, if I were Van Horn, I'd start taking offense to my own fanbase and media writers wanting to put me in the retirement home on a daily basis. They've been trying to put him out to pasture for the last 5 years...drooling themselves for a shot at Tony. I cannot wait to watch that meltdown whenever he tells them "no, thanks". I will LITERALLY laugh my ass off.

Unless your kid has baseball scholarship potential, I'd argue travel ball (the stereotypical every weekend and many thousands of dollars per season variety) is bad for your kid. If they grow up thinking sports is all there is to life, they'll be empty and unsatisfied later in life and they'll miss a lot of valuable childhood experiences because they had so much of their life devoted to one single area.

Now if baseball is going to be their life into adulthood and a possible career, that's not always a bad thing. But most kids don't benefit later in life from that type of childhood. I did it for a season before my parents threw in the towel, and none of those permanent travel ball kids I knew turned out to be the kind of adults I'd want my kid to be. Maybe just coincidence, but I think a more well rounded childhood is better for almost every kid.
