She had taken Smokeshow deep, but she had also struck out. It was a battle of the best pitcher vs best hitter. It didnt't work out for us.

If we'd walked her and the 3d hitter or 4th hitter smoked a ball to the corner, we'd be pissed to have given up free runners.

Coaching decisions are almost always graded by the outcome, and if the outcome were certain, none of us would watch sports.

B. I'd take the risk vs a FR hitter.

Were there two out? I thought it was walk, out, single? Maybe I am wrong.

Regardless, in retrospect, I wish we'd walked her for the FR as well. If we had, and the freshman hit a gapper that scored two, I'd likely be on here defending that choice, too.

Of course, I wish we'd gotten one in with loaded bases and one out in the top of the inning, too, or any number of other things, but that is just it:

Lady Vols Softball, Men's Basketball - they exist to make Vols fans pay for success in football, baseball and women's basketball. Get just sooooo close and rip us up.

I was really hoping Smokeshow could get a day of rest before going again. Now, it is gonna be a whole lot tougher for these ladies. Well, Wimmens, go make some history!

They needed either one HR or they needed two hits.

Statistically, they had less of a chance of hitting a HR or getting two base hits against Smokeshow then we had of getting one out. A walk dramatically changes those numbers, as they only need one out.

Karen played the numbers. It didn't work out. I wish it had.

Women are always late. Just have to deal with it unfortunately 😂
