A former aide to President Joe Biden said White House staff felt justified doing "undemocratic things" in order to stop Donald Trump.

Axios reporter Alex Thompson revealed on Fox News Sunday with Shannon Bream that White House insiders revealed to him they often viewed themselves as the decision makers in the Biden administration and were shielded from the president’s oversight.


“If you believe — and I think a lot of these people do sincerely believe — that Donald Trump was and is an existential threat to democracy, you can rationalize anything, including sometimes doing undemocratic things,” Thompson said.

Another aide also reportedly told Thompson that former President Biden “just had to win, and then he could disappear for four years.”

“He’d only have to show proof of life every once in a while,” Thompson said the aide told him. “His aides could pick up the slack.”


“When you’re voting for president, you’re voting for the aides around him,” the aide said.

Can we really say they covered it up? It was out there for the whole world to see if they were paying attention, even if they had the awareness of a gnat. They just lied to their fanbase and they slurped it up and went along with it even though, deep down, they knew all along. They saw it too. They couldn’t NOT see it if…even with their malfunctioning brains.

Just to be picky, he has a PhD in Neuroscience. He doesn't have an M.D. and he's not a Neurologist. His career's been mainly as a media hack. He's a bright boy in ways but he doesn't have 'the education and expertise to spot cognitive decline a mile away' or anything close.

She very well might have. She also could have talked about baseball. I couldn't tell you what she said 'afterward'. My point is that that particular clip was idiotic to post with THAT headline. I know that X and Bluesky are all about clicks which is why after a short period of time, anyone with any intelligence doesn't even read the "Bruce Springsteen says he's moving out of the US. What do you think?" threads anymore. I just think the conservatives would do better to take a high road and stop posting flamebait headlines with post bodies that don't mirror it.

They absolutely didn't want to see it. I got that from conversations with true Biden believers from before the 2020 election until when he dropped out of the 2024 race. Pointing out the obvious signs of dementia just made them angry.
