WNBA discussion thread?

Citron and Kiki are so good and so fun. Kiki’s been so tough going against BG and then Tina Charles. Wash is the perfect spot for promising rookies. They’ll play a lot and don’t have to worry about being replaced. The Mystics have no one else. Getting Edward’s back in a couple of weeks should help.

So disappointed in Shakira Austin. Finally able to play and gets tossed for getting two techs, the second one completely senseless. Team needs her to be better.

I thought this might happen. Basically Rickea crashed face first into an opponent's shoulder as they were falling to the floor. She was clearly dazed. Sparks also have games Fri and Sunday, I expect she'll miss those as well. Its been a a brutal start to the season for her but we've seen her bounce back before. Also, the Spark have the worst injury luck of any team I've ever seen.

I don’t follow the WNBA much tbh, but today I wanted to check in on some players I followed in college ball to see how they were doing. I was surprised that Boston seems to have taken another step fwd, though maybe it should have been expected, she is averaging 21/12 so far in the new season. She really is a great gal, I’m glad for her.

Most surprising to me is Alisha Gray averaging 20 ppg, though I realize she has been doing well in the WNBA. She was good in college but seems to have improved a bunch as a pro.

Boston has had a good start and really needed it. Struggled last yr and struggled so much in unrivaled that she ended up barely playing. Seemed badly out of shape. Did not have a very good game last night against the Dream, got in foul trouble and was not much of a factor. Neither was Caitlin Clark who for the first time in years did not hit a 3 and also struggled with foul trouble. But Natasha Howard and Sophie had big games for the Fever and they edged out the Dream after the Dream beat them last week.

Gray is one of my favorite W players, she's such a happy warrior. She won both the skills and the three point shooting contest at the All Star game last year. Gray is actually more efficient and consistent than Rhyan Howard who is great at times but many times channels her inner Arike. The Dream is so much better this yr. Smesko is a good coach and both Griner and Bri Jones look in shape and ready to go. Pao Pao Is getting pt with Jordan Canada out and like most rookies is up and down, but had a good game with the three ball last night.

Chicago sky is really struggling, their guards are just awful and the new coach is trying to find some kind of chemistry. Kamilla continues to be underused, they just don't seem to be able to figure her out. Angel has understandably had a slow start with all this and not to pick on her too much, but as I've said before, you can work with Lisa Leslie or Jesus and all 12 disciples but at 23, your basics aren't going to change much.

Someone far more clever than me called what Angel does here MEBOUNDS. For the game, she had 8 misses and 8 O boards. Which for sure is better than 8 misses and no rebounds. But still.

Jonquil Jones blocked her twice in that sequence without leaving the floor. AR shoots, or throws, fm an odd low angle plus is always falling over so lowering the launch angle even more.

Meanwhile, the Liberty hit a league record 19 three pointers in the game. Sky D needs some tweaks too.

"Im not scared of you" CC says, from the warm embrace of her bigger teammates. Then that goofy little kid face. This corny stuff used to annoy the **** out of me about her, but now I realize it's just the player and oncourt person she is. Game backs it up. Many others like that in the league. She and Rhyne chirped all night. Both of them push off constantly and then beef when the other does it. Its kind of harmless fun as long as no one goes all Draymond and starts physically hurting each other.

Sky not drafting Rickea is coming back to haunt them.

On AR and her Mebounds, the thing is she is only one who can do that. Her motor never stops and she has a Dennis Rodman like sense for anticipating the direction of a rebound, In the season opener against the Fever, her shot actually did look better and she even hit a 3. I don't think her unorthodox shot is the crucial problem. She is a 6'2 player without much vertical leap playing in the paint, She is good at using her body and timing to get boards but then she has to put up shots against taller, longer, and better hopped opponents. She is a lot like LV great Niki Anosiki who also had trouble finishing at the rim.

Per Clark, have you not read, she put on 2 maybe 3 pounds of muscle in the off season. No one better mess with her!! But, I am glad to see that her teammates have her back like that. Last season, they were a little slow to rally to her aid under such circumstances. You're old enough to remember -- Clark gives me a Danny Ainge vibe. The kind of person who just hate to play in a pick-up game but you would want on your team

I hated Danny Ainge.

1. Because he played for that Leprechaun Team ( Boston)
2. Because he was annoying as heck to my beloved Lakers...

Ainge bit the heck out of Tree Rollins at the bottom of a pile going for a loose ball vs Hawks.😳

I felt the same way!! I like Clark much more than Ainge (I don't think she will be biting anyone on the court!).

She has vertical leap, that’s the problem, she just doesn’t jump on her layups in games, I still hear her coaches saying it’s patience and that’s not the problem, it’s her jumping and releasing at the peak of her jump, she releases the ball right at the start of her jump. This is so easy to fix, only coach I’ve ever seen teaching her this was Lisa Leslie but they only practiced 3 times, she needs a full offseason to create muscle memory.

That jump ball pic really surprised me. The potential is there....

Wow the poor winless Conn Suns led the whole freaking game against the Lynx until the last few mins when Lynx went on a 23-2 run.. Phee is absolutely on a rampage so far this season, had 33 tonight. Talk about a revenge tour.

Hopefully the Sparks can pick up a win over the Valks tonight.

Griner probably bought herself a few games off with that lip reading comment. No matter who it was directed at, it needs to be addressed.

My Dad and I had the same war
I was for "showtime", he was blue-collar
Man that rivalry was like nothing before and certainly nothing after

My wife and I have started watching the Lynx more frequently, primarily because they are closest to our home in Wisconsin.

As a Conn fan I am of course really pleased with how Collier has been playing but my favorite on the team is Williams. I just find her determination and style of play to be electrifying, except for last night’s bomb performance against the Sun.

The foul called on Hull was not a foul and then Clark got fouled at the end but it is what it is. Clark most definitely could've taken care of the ball better during the game but these players hacking each other on both teams needs to be stopped...

100% not a foul. She got locked up and tried to flop her way out of it
