Zakai Zeigler suing for 5th year

I like Zakai but what a stupid lawsuit. You played 4 years. You graduated. You missed some time to injury but not anything enough to medically qualify.
Move along and let the next wave of athletes play ball. Everything good must come to an end.
This is exactly why people dislike the current landscape. I know ZZ loves UT and deserves to make money but it’s not like he was cheated at all during his time. It’s tiring seeing all these 4 or 5 year players fighting for more eligibility .
I feel like such a boomer whining about it. I wish I could have played ball longer too and made nil money but my ship sailed just like ZZ’s has too.
Simple question…

Why should Devan Cambridge or Myles Stute be getting an extra year and Zeigler shouldn’t? Both have played more career games.

I’ll pass this along to ZZ. I’m sure he’ll give it all the consideration it deserves.

Zeigler/Chandler had a nice role
True but the pecking order was never in question. Would ZZ return under the same terms? Would Gillespie be content with a backup role? No offense to ZZ, but I don't see him at the 2....at all.

ZZ can be a 1 without Kobi having to be a backup role

Very true, but how do you handle Abram? I'm all for competition and while I don't know the particulars of his recruitment, I have to wonder how Barnes would handle that dynamic. It's true that no one should be guaranteed a starting position, but he'd naturally be a bit frustrated with a development like this?

Let players play 4 years and then move on. Nothing against ZZ, but this play for eternity in college needs to stop.
The same could be said about FANS staying In a FANS place… a 5th year for any player has NO IMPACT or affects on your life.

Telling someone to move on from their God given talent, passion and something they love regardless of what level it’s on is pure “entitlement”…

You’re entitled to your opinion, but respectfully, it’s very ignorant to be against something that doesn’t affect your life! Be a FAN and enjoy the game!

his interviews constantly mentioned competing and wanting to win, I don’t think it would be a huge issue for Abram

Who cares what you think!!

I wish some fans would move on too!! Some of you act like 8 and 9 year old kids!!! Him playing for another 10 years will do NOTHING to affect your life!

If it happens, I suggest changing the channel, because what you don’t like, someone else will really enjoy (ME)!

For right now, but someone is going to want more than 5 eventually.
With a legal ruling on the flat 5, I think it would eliminate basically any short-term cases for extensions of eligibility. The issue right now is all the exceptions/loopholes that are able to be argued.

Long-term, especially in football, I do agree that we will see what’s essentially a minor league setup for CFB, which could see different rules for eligibility. That’s a whole ‘nother argument for another day, though.

Quick thought..

Zeigler 30/Abram 10
Gillespie 30/ Abram 5/Gainey 5
Gainey 25/Evans 10/Ament 5
Ament 25/Carey 15
Okpara 25/Estrella 15

Bench: Phillips, Boswell, Henderson, Massamba, Brown
That looks good to me, but no Cade is weird. I guess can give Evans minutes to Ament and then shift over the 10 to Cade? Idk I guess in Rick I trust. Minutes will be interesting to see no matter which two players Vols sign, if indeed they get two more.

Blame the Vandy QB tbh. Opened up a potential flood gate.

I’m sure it’s hard for a Kentucky basketball fan to understand a player staying in the same school more than a year or two or earning a degree from the school they started at.
