Yeah it’s slightly odd that no one else related the info from the discord, but Trilly is a mega ass about people passing along info from in there, so a lot of people err on the side of caution with direct quotes, SS, etc (although it’s very hypocritical of him, considering over half of his discord is just people sharing outside Info from paid sites like on3, 247, etc).

Everything Kirk has posted has come minutes after it’s posted by a trusted insider on Discord. Once the Massamba and Abram news happened, it was first mentioned by this insider and then almost instantly, Todd Kirk account was made and updates started flowing in. We weren’t absolutely certain until last night’s update when it was almost exactly what the discord insider had said. Kirk is just a random fan in this discord and he’s taking his info to VN for some kind of clout. I also personally know the real Todd Kirk. My co-worker was roommates with him and even if this guy somehow isn’t getting his info from discord (which he is)…he is not THE Todd Kirk from Pennington Gap.

As someone who has played and coached basketball at its lowest levels, I will freely admit Coach Barnes has forgotten more about basketball than I will ever know. But managing a roster with this many players, the majority of which are transfer from programs where they played big minutes or played for us last year, I would think expect to get some time this season. This seems like a nightmare and a cause for concern from a locker room standpoint.

Competition makes everyone better. If it causes some to run somewhere else, I consider it addition by subtraction. If they aren't wanting to compete for a starting job, what is this league gonna do to them?

It looks like Barnes learned from last year and he wants to ensure they have enough players to make sure they can have good practices. Boswell, Henderson, Evans, Massamba (hopefully he is a rotational player), and Brown are likely going to be third team practice players.

Also (in response to the loss of Mashack's and Zeigler's every-possession defense), I've wondered if Barnes might see something in Coach Kim Caldwell's philosophy that he could adapt situationally to break up runs, disrupt substitution schedules, take advantage of certain lineups, and give teams something else to prepare for. (As opposed to how the LVs use it strategically to wear down teams by 4th quarter.)

With a full bench that has plenty of quick, able scorers, being able to flip on a fresh five press-turnover-and shoot could be very disruptive, even if used sparingly.

My company tried to use discord to communicate private internal company info and we got rid of it not even a week later because many issues and went back to whatsapp. Discord is horrible and useless unless your play video games and chat during playing video games, etc..
