Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Anyone that would spend $70K on a car, boat, or motorcycle has it coming.

Fun fact, Americans on average save less than 20% of earnings. Their debt to income ratio is among the highest in World.

Chinese families save over 50%, on average.

Think about that.

Are we entitled?

It’s way less than 20%. < 5%. Americans make $$ but they don’t have much $$. Still a ton more than the rest of the world.

That’s why if you can manage debt/expenses you can become insanely wealthy here. Nowhere else on earth has the margin available if you’re disciplined.

Run flats. Virtually all of our BMWs have been the same. Not so sure that's about space as much as the reality of a typical (modern) person trying to change the tire on the side of the road.

Apparently you haven't shopped for trucks lately. My most recent truck was $20k more more than my wife's X4 M40i.
Been thinking about selling my truck to get my house paid off quicker. Just don’t like the thought of what it would cost to get another similar truck later. Prob just keep it

$70K on a car is too much. Depreciates in value, and will break. Far often earlier than later. Ive always wanted an old 4X4, unfortunately they hold their value.

I see no way of spending $40K on something that will be a money pit.

We are absolutely entitled.

Weigh it out. Shouldnt be much of a decision iyam.
A man needs a good truck. But smarter thing would be sell it, get all my debts paid. We have an 89 Silverado that just needs a little tlc.

I guess that’s where entitled comes into play. Sell 2500, be debt free soon, and make do with lesser truck, or keep the nicer truck that I hardly ever drive because “what if I need to tow something”.

It is pretty much inevitable that the team would fall back this year...we just lost WAY too much offensive production and pitching to have a great team this year.

I have to say though, the first few weeks of the season had me hoping I was wrong, and I thought maybe Tony had somehow put another elite team together...but alas...Baseball showed it's cruel hand and brought it crashing back to earth..😖

I do however believe this team is actually better than they have shown the last month...we are a good team either way, but I think we could ge a really good team if the guys would just out of their heads.

This program as a whole has forgotten what it is like to struggle..to slump at the plate, on the mound and in the field...and all those things have weirdly happened to a lot of the team, and so it becomes a cascade failure....I've seen tons of good teams go in month long funks, but I've seen them flip a switch and right themselves literally overnight too.

It wouldn't surprise me for us to get knocked out the first week...but it really wouldn't surprise me for them to have one of those crazy couple of games where things just start clicking again for multiple players, and suddenly turns it around and go deep in the postseason either.

Tony will put more great teams on the field...I just don't know if he could ever put a historically great team like we've had in 2 of the previous 3 years out there again.

We have a ton of baseball newbs that don't understand how special those teams really were....just absolutely brutal lineups and staffs.

They are called "Historically Great" for a reason...they don't come around that often.
👍 Well stated.

East TN. On the tip top of one of the tallest ridges in Union County facing north toward Ky. We catch the brunt of it every time. Its weird though because every time we have a little wind, my garbage cans get blown over. Went out to survey this damage and the cans havent moved an inch but my carport has relocated to the middle of the county road.

I tried calling KUB. Its all automated. Finally did get put through to the main office. Its closed. But I dont think its on the power lines. We all still have power. I think its on the fiber cables. They arent broken because we still have internet service too.

I think after my home owners pays on this one, the next one will be stick built with 6x6 posts concreted in. This one had 6 3 ft anchors driven into the ground and has been there for probably 5 or 6 years now and has never offered to move. Wind caught it just right this time I guess. The wife happened to pull the curtain back just in time and saw it flying through the sky.
I lived in Union Co. on a ridge near you years ago. The sound of even small thunderstorms was always so much more intense than anywhere else. Wind would go between the ridges and sound like the world was coming apart (or like the Wild Hunt had been summoned) and real thunderstorms sounded apocalyptic. I honestly can’t imagine how bad last night’s thunder would’ve sounded there.

And yeah when events happen there good luck getting someone out there to fix it. It’s not too bad if you’re still technically in Maynardville but further out is a no man’s land for utilities.

I found out last night it's got a built in air compressor where the spare should have been, but I'd rather have a spare and jack kit. It originally had run flats but we went with a traditional tire when we had to replace them to save some money. I didn't think to ask about the car having a spare tire when we bought it. I figured for what it cost, a spare would have been included. Run flats don't really help when it's Friday at 7 PM and tire stores are closed.

and no.....unfortunately, I don't get to truck shop. I am saving up for a 2017 Silverado. I think they should be in my price range in the next 3-5 years. If we can keep that Audi running. 🤣

Vehicles are only money pits if you choose a crappy one or don’t take care of it. And depending on what you use the vehicle dor makes a huge difference. Say you spend 65k on a truck but you run a business that requires it. That truck makes you money.

It’s not as just black and white as you want to believe.

A work truck, necessary for work, in same vein as a sportscar for the wife?

I’m glad I wasn’t born in China.

There is moderation with this. My oldest of 4 starts high school next year, and those years will go quickly. I’m going to spend some money for trips and experiences because I won’t get back these years. At some point, I don’t want to be trying to travel to places I want to go when I’m 65+ years old…God willing.
