If the market were in charge, I’d imagine rates would be even higher right now. If your point is that his job shouldn’t exist at all, I’d agree.

But the people trying to blame him are mostly partisan hacks looking to excuse current economic concerns

Yes, his position (the entire FR) shouldn't exist.

And yes I do believe that he and the FR Board are playing politics with rates at the moment.

The market DOES set interest rates on US treasury bonds. The Fed only sets the federal funds target range. That determines the overnight borrowing rate for banks borrowing from each other.

It’s an overreach for sure to pretend he’s saying kill Trump. It’s fair to say it could be read as “eliminate”, but “could be” is a far cry from calling this an outright threat.

But no, I wouldn’t say anyone would read it as “move on” or “dump”

Comey may be playing chess not checkers. He know he’s screwed and wants to get arrested so he can get immunity and flip on evil folks that were pulling his strings. Idk Just spitballing.
