OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

Wes Rucker deserves that award but I like McKee
Generally, I have in the past, too. Saying Tony should leave for any reason is beyond my limits of restraint. That was one of he more asinine things I’ve heard come out of the Knoxville sports media in years….and Ben is competing with Wes, Basilio and John Adams.

Wes is just a bitch. I simply don’t like him because of his takes on things like our “antics” especially recently that are obviously good developments for a team that’s struggling to have that level of fight in them.

Basilio is just a doomer sometimes. But so am I.

Adams I haven’t even read in almost 15 years.

I should also mention that screenshot was sent to me, and you can only tell when someone liked something if you’re the one who tweeted it now, and this isn’t my tweet so I don’t know for sure he really liked it. I also don’t know why anyone would fake it.

That said, I agree honestly. If they cut tony’s program funding then I wouldn’t blame him one iota for going to Miss St.

@chuckiepoo

You are editor for the dugout.
I saw this headline and it doesn’t seem right and I need your input.

I ain’t no editor ✍️ but seems to me someone at yahoo is stirring ish💩 fer clicks. There is no doubt in my mind Wild Bill Belichick will be coaching the Tarheels this fall.

You know it's more the ones who have been in game thread for years thread than the new individuals. For example it starts from the lineup dropping and geesh let's not let the Phillips can't hold a runner thing go. Every game Phillips pitches it's non stop . We all can see supposedly. Then poor Curley they ride him like a borrowed Mule every game, I guess I'm just old and stuff like that irritates the hell out of me.

There are always gonna be those who seem to feed off of the deficiencies. The night before the series, or the second game, probably. I said, if they get on base, they will run. Trick is don’t let em on the bases. Of course, Vandy scouts. It’s easy to pick on Marcus. But the stats in SEC play bear it out, VU runs on everyone, it’s who they are, like UK.

The same is true of errors. As maddening as it may be, it’s an all year problem. Dwelling on it game after game is kinda like well…Duh, if there was an easy fix it would be fixed. Taking glee in it, is well…easy pickings, putting it politely.

The point is, after 52 games, even after the points mentioned above…it’s all still there which in and of itself is a pretty remarkable coaching achievement given the turnover of the roster. The road is gonna be harder, but ya get what you earn.

My pointing out the influx of new people is not my way of ignoring the other more well known posters. When times are not what we’d like, the easiest thing for a person that’s new here to do is glob onto the negative, then it turns into ganging up on one or two players.

McKee is all VOLS great guy .
I guess we’ll have to disagree on this one. Setting up the hypothetical that there will be a cut back on baseball funding in order to state that Tony should go to Miss State is straight BS. My opinion, granted.

First time I’ve ever had a problem with Ben. But now? I’ve got a problem with Ben.

It’s been a talking point he and swain have both talked about. I will have to dig but I think it was early February he and swain said revenue sharing could affect baseball and basketball negatively if the AD decides football gets everything. And there’s a legitimate chance of that happening imo. The majority of fans would axe the baseball program right now to win a title in football. I’m not one of them, if anything I’d be the opposite, but I’m not delusional about where most fans would stand on that.

I know the sport is not popular in the SEC, but it is out west: I read today that Grand Canyon University eliminated its men’s volleyball program, which apparently has a solid history and had recently been to the men’s volleyball final four. It was a non revenue sport.
