Kinda reminds me of a smaller school that blew up but wanted to remain small. You know, opposite of TN.

My coworker says Blacksburg is like Athens in that it basically grew around, and because of, the university and that it’s the definition of a college town

there is engineering and medical but that's about it. roanoke is a dandy but if you aren't in engineering professional or banking... you're in the rough part of town

I was relieved it wasn’t Pizzaballa. I could not keep a straight face at Papa Pizzaballa who would’ve been the first pope with a gangster rap surname.

There's insanely more competition than in the 80s. Comparing about 200 million almost all US population vs countries totaling billions today. Tons of Africans, Europeans, South Americans. Same reason American-borb baseball players eventually got squeezed out.

More folks competing to get in, you see demographic changes that reflect said increased competition. It's completely global now unlike the 80s.

Plenty of the bench guys from the 80s would now, statistically, be lucky to make the D-league. And plenty of the starters would be lucky to be backups in the NBA. Just a numbers game and market forces.

Also, coordination is a big problem with a wild animal. Men need to think. A wild ass animal just acts. While we're planning on what to do he's already ripped through 40 of us.

That was my dad's generation. They've been around longer than I've been hanging D.
