That's racist!

That’s not race baiting. Those jumping to and pushing conclusions which favor their chosen side are race baiting.
Sure it is because of the framing. If it wasn’t race baiting he would have just said, “you might be willing to condemn people without knowing all the facts.” But he chose to put black in there.

Like I said, race baiting.

It was simply a joke using the same language as gun free zones. Appears you need to replace some batteries. If not you'll likely be lumped into the same group of dumb as the other guy who didn't get it.
If it was a joke, that's my bad. I didn't read it that way; but I did not read every single post either. Sorry :D

I have not watched the videos posted of the woman in question, mainly because I don't care to watch her doing what she is said to have done to a child.

My question is did she really do this while recording or being recorded? If so not only is she vile, she's an idiot to boot.

I edited: autocorrect grabbed me by the ears and bounced my head off the pavement in that post.

The majority of those posting in this thread believes she is a POS. It was a kid, a 5 yr. old.

It's just poor taste for another poster to use this as a legit comparison between some WT idiot using a racial slur v.s. another kid murdering another who happened to be white.

I've heard random podcasts say there was a fight. Could be false. Once again this is why you wait until trial. Who knows exactly what happened. The police report included no details. And in the report Anthony doesn't shy away from the incident. He says boldly he was defending himself and that Metcalf put hands on him. Now if all Metcalf did was try to move him and he stabbed him then that's not self-defense. But if Metcalf was about to inflict deadly damage then Karmelo might be justified in using deadly force. I don't know how likely that is but it's plausible. That's why I've maintained I'm reserving judgment until all the facts come out.

Deadly damage? With what, a relay baton? Anthony was armed with a deadly weapon and used it against an unarmed kid.

It’s still not race baiting.

There is no comparison between the two outside of the crowdfunding, imo.

Given my time as a prison guard and my days in jail as a younger man...I can assure you my use of the word was met with violence. As I would expect given that is a possibility of using the n-word..that's fine I'm responsible for my language and behavior. And I have to accept the consequences of both. Now I ask you as a black man....tell me how the n word is any differences. Being called as ahole, mfers or c***sucker...its a word used to elicite a response..it only effect you if you allow it..if your being honest in how to present yourself here I can see no reason for that word or any insults to enter the conversation.

I view the N word like any other insult. I'm not a "b word" but if you say it to me I'll take it as a challenge to my manhood. Same with the N word. I don't view myself as being inferior to anyone. So the word has no effect on me other than being a disrespectful word that will be dealt with like any other disrespectful behavior.

That's the exact response I'd expect from any insult hurled...so it being the n word is really irrelevant...the lady is nuts and should never say that to a child..same as any other insults...and to me the n-word doesn't apply to just 1 race of people..it's a behavior to me..let me ask you this...what's gonna hurt you more being called the n-word or getting punched in the back of the head?? Which will impact you more?? This is my point action over with words..

so it being the n word is really irrelevant...

No. Its extremely relevant. Because while that word doesn't affect me cause I have knowledge of self, that's not the case for most black people and especially white people. I know I'm not inferior to you because of my individual accomplishments. But I also know the black race isn't inferior because I've studied history and know what we've contributed to humanity.

However, this knowledge of self took decades to build. When I was kid I was embarrassed to be black because I believed the prevailing belief that the N word denoted. That my race was inferior because of slavery and a lack of contribution to human history. It took years of studying to realize everything we were told about ourselves was false. Most black people still don't have that knowledge of self to emotionally defend themselves from what that word means. And the white people hurling definitely don't know or care about the dignity and humanity of black people. So that's why that word is hurtful more than any other word. Because unlike other insults, most people actually believe it. That black people are inferior to white people.

People only feel inferior of they allow themselves to feel that way...giving the social programming done by the gov it's no wonder there is a bubbling race war...funny thing is that word mean very little in the rest of the world. So it seems to be an issue of self worth and education l and learning from all communities......would you rather be enslaved or called the n-word?? Action vs words only 1 can truly have an impact that isn t allowed by you.

Does this fall into your discovery of NOI? And their views on other races and other religions?

To your last sentence, I don't believe this is the case at all. I think a small percentage of people believe that. But they aren't representative of the whole, just the exception.

I respect what the nation has done for black people in affirming our dignity and worth. If you want to focus on their mythology then that's on you. I focus on what men like Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali stood for.

Can't have one without the other. Without slavery the N word is less meaningful. It would be like any other racial slur. What gives the N word power is the fact it was tied to subjugation.

Also slavery wouldn't be a big deal for us in modern times if not for the racial component tied to it. Ancient Greece had slavery but nobody knows nowadays who was descended from slaves and who wasn't because slavery wasn't tied to skin color. What chattel slavery in the Americas did was something unique in human history. It tied the enslavement to skin color. It made only black people slaves. And what that did was cause us to never actually overcome that original sin.

I wish you were right. But even ignoring white people, I believe most black folk think they are inferior to white people. I remember reading about a study years ago where they tested a group of white and black students. In the first version of the study they told the students the test was a test of intelligence. The black students ended up scoring less than the white students. They gave the students the same test again but this time the instructions said it was NOT a test of intelligence. The black students still scored lower the second time but the gap closed considerably. The white students scored the same the second time while the black students ended up scoring higher than they did the first time. Just telling the black students it was a test of intelligence caused them to doubt themselves and score lower.

White people might try to deny it but I believe we've all been indoctrinated in society to believe in the same things. And one of the things we all believe whether explicitly or implicitly is the difference in the ability of different races at different stuff. People feel comfortable admitting they think black people are more athletic but let it be about other traits and all of sudden they'll act like nobody could ever believe one group is superior to another.

I'm one of the rare people who actually believes there isn't a difference between the races in ANY INALIENABLE TRAIT. But I didn't get to that point by wishing or hoping it to be true. I studied for years and came to the conclusion after through research. Everything in society leads us to believe there are differences between the races. It takes a lot of work to undo that programming. I doubt most people have done the work to undo the programming.

Did you do this research while attending Duke?

The only reason it was tied to skin color is because black African tribes sold other tribe members. And factually chattel slavery was used in the Caribbean as well...but the semantics of chattel slavery and what is now defined and indentured servitude which still exist in African black on black is a sematic argument. They are both slavery and both are treated the same..and a child born will still be responsible for the debit of the parents and are usually never freed. Even more so the N word has no meaning to actual slaves...so why should it have such power to a group of people whom never were slaves...it seems that the black community has been conditioned to believe that they are perpetual victims because their African ancestors decided to sell their kin. Also there were many black slaves owners in America as well as white indentured servants...

Also wow, way to hit the themes of 'slavery wasn't that bad,' 'the N word isn't that bad' and 'it's all Black people's fault' all in one post. Like a racist game show

I agree, in every way with your last sentence, for instance it isn't by genetics or some chance that Asians for example are so adept at mathematics and engineering. In general they have been conditioned by cultural norms and expectations to be more focused and disciplined in studies and education. Particularly in those fields. It's simply expected, therefore they train and apply themselves to that end.

I think this is true as well with AA's and athletics, particularly football and basketball. Spoken word, poetry and music as well. A lot of it comes back to cultural norms and expectations.

To piggyback on your point here there is always a why (s) or reason (s) but I don't think it's ingrained in our bodies but in our dedication.

I think part of the issue within America is culture. It isn't cool to be great at math or "sexy" to want to grow up to be an English major. In fact "proper" English or bring smart is considered nerdy and made fun of. The fact America is also culturally fragmented is both it's greatest strength and weakness.

I Think there are residual effects of our racist past. I'm sure self loathing took many generations to dissipate. I know victims of abuse carry an irrational shame. I can only assume AA's did/do as well.

And certainly people like this woman doing this to a child does great harm to everyone.
