That's racist!

I get where you got confused. See, we fought the Germans at pearl harbor but the British during our founding.

I hope you've enjoyed this public school history lesson
We also fought German troops during the Revolution.

Ever hear of the Hessians? Ole George and the boys caught them in their beds the day after Christmas 1776.

I don’t think so. They as a people don’t have an independent mindset that is necessary for world domination. Slaves can’t innovate or work without supervision.
An independent mindset's not that necessary. The Mongols, Spanish and Portuguese, and the Japanese in WWII weren't noted for being free thinkers.

The language yes! If you are a foreigner and you come to the United States to live then yes you should learn to speak English. It shouldn't be the other way around where Americans have to learn their language.

If I had to move to Mexico, Japan or Germany. I would expect I have to learn those languages. Why should the US be different.
where are Americans having to learn other languages in America?

I am willing to bet I live in a FAR more diverse and "urban" environment than 99% of posters, and I have never had to speak another language. I have never even felt weird ordering or talking in English.

let them have their language. its certainly not a matter for government.

I agree that nobody should be forced to learn English, however we shouldn't be spending taxpayer money with the government conducting business in multiple languages.

You understand that Germany would have defeated England either in ww1 or ww2 without America, hence you would be speaking Germany with some english.
uhm, you realize we won our independence from England like ~150 years before WW1 right? them losing either war would not have impacted us in the slightest beyond various trade partners.

WW1 the UK being conquered would never have been on the table regardless of our involvement. and it certainly never would have ended with the Germans dominating the island. WW2 is a big maybe, but even that relies on a ton big what if's to even be contemplated.

I put the multiple language issue down in the lower thousands of problems with our government efficiency.

As had been said before, China.....and Asians in general don't innovate. This is due to their rigid culture, and that would take more than one generation to change. "This is this way because this is the way we do it", and that get passed down, generation after generation. I really enjoy working with the Japanese. Great people and they have some really good engineers too. They are very through. However, when push comes to shove (and there is a problem or roadblock) myself, or my company are many times the ones that end up coming up with an engineering solution that is outside of the box....or have to work around a problem that they just won't fix. Very rarely does it come from a Japanese vendor...at least unless they are forced to, and that solution can take many times longer than if we could do it. A free minded society and culture will always lead innovation.

I understand but if we didn't, we'd still be under British rule, when the axis attacked, the results would completely different, it England is defeated no doubt America would be too.

so your justification for our involvement is based on a what-if we never won the Revolution?

I mean if that is where you are at, good on you. But I would think that goes far beyond the reasonable criteria of most people.

No, you're missing my original point.
