I don't think he's dumb...I think it's just called mailing it in.

He'll be 70 at the end of the year, has been noncommittal about managing beyond this year, his contract is up after this season, and he got his WS a few years ago. He's never been a really fiery guy anyway. His foot is off the gas pedal and he's sightseeing out the window of the car.
