Thanks Dont'e I’m sure this will help recruiting

That's BS. Just another article for the negative Nellies to jump on. Route trees are route trees, not much difference regardless of offensive scheme. Hyatt didn't have much trouble getting drafted.
I remember the same stuff being said even with Hyatt not saying he said it, but the critics have been out about Heupels "simple" offense and how it doesn’t translate the league.

At some point, Heupel’s offensive genius is going to have to survive without 2022 Hooker and Hyatt.
Heupel's offense was 3rd in the SEC last year in total ypg and 1st in rushing ypg.

There's more to offense than deep balls, but many of our fans refuse to accept that, even though we went 10-2 last year with wins over Florida and Alabama and made the playoffs for the first time in program history.

The offense the last 2 years hasn’t been much to write home about. Here’s hoping this fall goes better on that side of the ball.
I actually prefer last year offense over the 2022 offense. The tempo and frequent 3 & outs left our defense on the field way too much in 2022. We've got better defense and better ball control now. Better recipe for championships, IMO.

It’s not DT’s fault. Up to Heupel to disprove the growing criticism of his offense.

Growing criticism of his offense?! Sure thing chief but let's look at the stats: 3rd in the SEC and 15th in the nation in total offense, 2nd in the SEC and 13th in the nation in points per game. You are welcome to list all the other Tennessee head coaches not named Heupel that have achieved that feat in the last 30 years

To your point. Tillman and Hyatt would not be in the NFL without this offense.

Yeah. Who wants to score 9 out of 10 times you get the ball? So boring and gives the other team's offense too many chances.

"Boring"

That is how most of our fans see winning football. It seems as though you value the excitement of 2022 over the success of 2024. That's fine I guess. We all watch for a reason.

I kinda read a few of those post and I thought the same thing as you just posted. CLEARLY...CJH offense is effective. As stated...the way we used the run game last year to get us to the playoffs seems to be lost on a lot of surface fans (I certainly get that because prob 99% of the fanbase falls into this catergory). Hopefully we can migrate back to a strong throw game we've exploited in the past soon simply because its more spectacular and fun....CJH simply hasnt forgotten how to scheme folks open.

Lol, have you watched much football before? When you have receivers lined up on the sidelines, you’re not going to have a pro style route tree because you aren’t going to have out breaking routes and you aren’t going to use the middle of the field nearly as much. That’s not propaganda, and anyone with a lick of sense can figure that out.
You should apply for the HC job.

And that falls to who? The head coach who evaluated, recruited and signed him or the qb coach who worked with him every day and coached him? Come on. At some point, the buck stops....and it stops with the head coach. Heupel owns this.
All your comments are against Heupel, do you want to go back to the hell we were in for years before he got here, ok so who are you hiring since he's so bad in your mind

I'm more than satisfied with the results of Heupel's offense to this point. I also don't think some of the criticism that seems to trigger folks is unwarranted. He's not infallible and football constantly evolves. I'm hoping his best TN offenses are in the future and not the past.

Donte "ight I am going to take a knee after every catch" Thornton.

I get they are putting their bodies on the line, but he was glass out there every time he touched the ball.

But then when you get drafted high as a WR like Jalin Hyatt, you don't play.

He’s not wrong and he’s not being critical. Our offense consists of a lot of simple routes and reads due to our tempo. We’re not running a bunch of mesh concepts out there. It just is what it is.
All true. But as you can see, some are going to need something for butt hurt. And since I am not a doctor, I made no recommendations for treatment.

Hyatt benefitted possibly more than anyone else from busted coverage due to confusion. Our up-tempo offense (when we could still run that) got a lot of d-backs confused about who should cover who. On a lot of his yards and touchdowns the nearest guys was 5-10 yards away. I'm not saying he wasn't a good college receiver but it helped inflate his numbers. But when he only ran a 4.4 40, I figured he'd struggle in the NFL. Not tall. Not physical. Not an especially good route runner. Average hands. His speed was his selling point, but it wasn't special when it comes to the NFL.
