The Official #10 Auburn @ #12 Tennessee Series Thread (Sat. May 3 11AM EDT) (Sun. May 4 1PM EDT) (Sun. May 4 45 mins after) (All games SECNET+)

What a cluster. I believe the university sets the start time no question. DW and Tony may be the blame. No matter starting time the umps determine weather the game can start at the time scheduled. If it was truly thundering and lightening by rule they can't start until 30 minutes after last lightening strike. Just my opinion the umps screwed the pooch. Going to be more difficult with all the rain forecast today. Pitching will be stressed with start and stoppage of play .

This season feels like it's unraveling a bit, but to be honest that will just put more fire in our coaches' bellies. Wouldn't be surprised if we assemble an All-Star team out of the transfer portal this summer and go into 2026 with the goal of making the rest of the SEC - and by extension the rest of the country - wish they hadn't messed with us in 2025.
So the implication is that they aren't going all out now? Vitello is cruising?

Sit Doyle down for the remainder of this weekend. Texas has won the regular season.

I'm just wanting to get back to Omaha for the jello shots. Going to require many lucky bounces with this team.

I've given Tony a pass most of the year due to the Natty last season, but this one was just unbelievably ****ing stupid.
You have ZERO idea what all was involved in this process. NONE. Mother Nature was winning this event last night, and you give Tony crap over something on which you have no idea what did or didn’t occur. I am absolutely thrilled that you have found it in your heart to “give Tony a pass for most of the season.”

Your statement can be described in a number of ways, but how prolific you are in posting such incredibly obtuse and malicious rhetoric that has ZERO factual information.

I choose to see the cup as half full. First, Doyle gets some late season rest while some of these youngsters are going to be counted on in a critical part of the season. That only serves to grow them. This team is kinda too laid back. Stuff like this adds pressure. That reveals a lot about who and what you are as a player. Gonna be interesting to see what Vitello does in the rest of the series with his staff.

Hey, even if we do have to hit the road in the tournament, I don't see that as necessarily a bad thing for this team. They seem more dialed in on the road. Maybe they thrive on the road atmosphere since we don't seem to have any juice in LNS anymore? Either way, it's all good. We're a basketball school now.

Somebody help me with the college rules.

Is it true if any games are played the rest of this weekend, the first one is a resumption of the Friday game? I assume this is the case.

Also, I haven’t seen it discussed and maybe I just missed it, but for those new to baseball, if they never resume the Friday game and get it past 5 full innings, none of it ever happened. Doyle gets his HR allowed back and dude loses two rbis. Worse thing that can happen if none of them are played is that we lose a home series, in which we’re supposed to have the advantage.

GongCast for Saturday at LNS:

A lot of things suck about tonight but this series is far from unwinnable. Hoping they can get all 3 in! Lived in this area my whole life and if you trust the weatherman you'll miss out on a lot in the warmer months. 🤞

A bit taken aback from the negativity in here tonight. Is what it is. What happens next is all that matters.

Go Vols!
Really good post.

Who the hell is this positive guy and what the hell have you done with @CAVPUT ?

It was literally lightning and thundering frequently at my house when the first pitch was thrown. I'm 16 miles from the stadium, directly in the path the storm was traveling in. I didn't think anyone had the authority to say "play ball" in those conditions. Every stadium and golf course in the country shuts down with lightning in the area.

Just a very weird and unfortunate decision. I'm honestly thankful that nobody was hurt. If that pitch hits the batter in the head or the bat caught a player or fan down the sideline/in the dugout, there would have been hell to pay for someone today.

Yes, your pic made it look like perfect baseball weather. I was surprised when you followed that post with the one about the Auburn players heading to the bus.
That pic was deceiving. The rain and lightning never let up. Looks like no thunderstorms today—-just rain with perhaps a small break around 2pm.

If I was Mississippi State, my plane would be at the Knoxville airport this morning with a large bag of money and a large stack of all the social media posts about Tony.
Okay, I will bite. What has the Vols fan base been saying on Social Media AGAIN.?

Sometimes I truly believe this is the worse fan base in the Country by the way people spout off on Twitter or X.

FWIW, Tennessee baseball “fans” haven’t cornered the market on saying stupid stuff. Kyle Peterson‘s tweet of his opinion that Lemonis should have been able to have complete the season received all sorts of vitriol from Mississippi State “fans.“
