Recruiting Football Talk VIII

That is eye opening, to say the least.

Need for approval is on same plane as drugs, or alcohol? Wow. You have to stay vigilant in this life. About the time you have it figured out. God opens your eyes, about .0001% more. As our humanness can only handle very little.
The need for approval is a form of idolatry.

I only do that to you. @Glitch is the one who suggested it.
I just needed some help with an over grown fence row full of poison ivy and such. You didn't have to kill Mrs. Glitch's flowers. She is still pissed. I wouldn't show your face in Murfreesboro for a while yet.

Been a minute since any movie discussions...

Rewatched The Iron Claw last night, such a great film...still disappointed it didn't get any Oscar nominations. Biggest complaint was a few casting choices, but otherwise great film

Saw Sinners in IMAX opening weekend, it was just an overall well executed film. Didn't reinvent the wheel or anything for the genres or story but all aspects of it were just top level. I think the acting and cinematography stood out the most for me, but the sound design, music, and editing were also well done. Won't be surprised if it gets a lot of Oscar attention.

Black Bag though might be my current favorite film for 2025 a terrible box office performance though which is so weird based on what the film is and who was in it...but no big action pieces or huge star power either. Short film though at just over 90 minutes well paced, well acted and filmed great. Biggest complaint I've seen is dialogue heavy so not a film you wanna watch distracted as a lot of it can be missed if not listening to the dialogue.

I tried to watch Black Bag, but accidentally watched "Black Bags" 😂

I don’t get it. Unless he was already told by DW that he wouldn’t be considered for the job when CRB decides to hang it up.
Sometimes you have a better shot of landing the job by leaving the job. Sports and academia really don’t like for hires to be too inbred. They want you to leave the nest at least for a little while and get more than just experience of whatever institution you’re at. There are exceptions but it really is a thing. They love bringing home hires but not necessarily hiring from within.

Sorry about your friend. My wife started making me go a couple of years ago, just to be safe. I fish a lot, go to Florida to fish several times a year. Started wearing sunshirts (what i call them), and a hat several years ago.
I'm only 37 but had several spots on my face removed yesterday and sent off for biopsy. Played baseball, soccer, and football from 5 yrs old through college intramurals. Mostly back before everybody was sunscreen savvy, and never used it except when going to the beach or a pool. Now I keep a wide-brimmed hat and long sleeve UPF shirt on when I'm outside for long periods. Love the ones from academy even in summer. Can't say I miss getting sunburnt
