May be the downfall of the nfl. When they give unlimited eligibility and incorporate the AD into an LLC. Why would you go anywhere if you're making $6m/yr in college, unless you're a guaranteed 1st round pick?

No, my CONCEPT is that HE wasn’t “leveraging”. This is a pro-active stance by the program to get ahead of that. Maybe jmo, but it’s the reality that currently exists. Net result is he’s concentrating on competing for the starting job and/or continuing to develop towards next season if he doesn’t (at least immediately) win the starting nod.

HE and HIS agent started the negotiations. This wasn’t UT getting out in front. All QB’s were reported to have been given a raise after Nico left already. By all accounts this is what has been reported not what you’re saying.

I've seen a lot of people in the past, including myself, post how much better college sports is than the pros.

I'm not so sure anymore.

They want to play more. They have played a secondary role with a playoff team, now they want to start and make a little more money too. Everyone is saying the system is broke, but bottom line is players want to play.

I thought about holding out for a higher NIL deal, but I was afraid the Mods would tell me to git, and I'd end up having to transfer to a D2 Program's Forum.

How do you know? Whole inside story announced or you just know stuff? Regardless, the dynamic changed a couple of weeks ago. He went from being the presumed back-up hoping to get enough snaps to develop for starting NEXT SEASON to the immediate guy fending off transfer for the starting nod IMMEDIATELY. The transfer is getting over a million to compete. IF he or his side dialed first, the other party was in the process. BOTH knew you pay more. No way Heupel/Spyre had a thought balloon over their heads that seriously read “IF he wins the starting job THEN we’ll talk about more money.” Train’s moving…catch up!

Returning guys next year with playing time this season is

Hunter High


Tegan Kuhns only returning starter pitching..

Add:
Grimmer
Newstrom
Lawless
Rest of the true freshmen
and likely all the pitchers in the pen except possibly Sneed (but whose struggles this year make it more likely he might return)

A lot more '25 playing time returning in '26, than we had coming into this year from last (only returned 2 w/meaningful post-season minutes)
