President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

Your virtue signaling is admirable but I guess you failed to catch the "**** those kids (with cancer) and **** their illegal parents" bit amidst your tidal wave of moral superiority.
There was one kid with cancer who had left the country and she wasn’t deported but her mother who was deported decided to take her with her instead of leaving her with a guardian so she could remain in the US for I receive treatment. But go ahead and keep using one extreme sob story (how many thousands of man hours did the media spend looking for that one case I wonder) to try and stymie the enforcement of immigration law.

Whether that Canada 51st state tweet was intended to be taken seriously or not .... it is such a crazy thing for an American President to be talking about.
There seems to be serious talk about some of the western Canadian provinces seceding from Canada if the liberal party wins. I don't think there's any view of them becoming states or even US territories, but it makes sense to the US if those rich, conservative provinces start negotiating independently with the US. I suspect Trump is less about Canadian statehood as much as stirring that pot.

It's also been a way for Trump to insult Trudeau by calling him "governor". And now Trudeau has lost his office, power and face.

I'm glad you'll sit here and type a paragraph at me instead of just acknowledging what has perhaps been the most deplorable post in this thread. Lol.

Y'all are rich.

Never once a thought that maybe, just maybe, we should spend our resources on deporting dangerous criminals instead of Moms of cancer patients.

Nope. The movie is always find any way to justify it

Yes .... his approval ratings are going down, but there is just no reason for a President in his 2nd term to care. I suppose it could hurt Vance's chances ..... but I doubt that Trump even cares much about that. George W. Bush's approval numbers were even worse than Biden's at the end. They never affected how he governed.

Shockingly the aspect of his admin I’ve been least impressed by so far is his foreign policy. Tariffs, isolationism, lack of a strong position towards Russia, etc

I was expecting more “peace through strength”. Instead the policy reeks of Obama/Biden retreat from the world stage.

Just to be clear, you’ll complain either way right?

Changes course, lacks integrity. Stays the course, doesn’t care about the people. That’s the game, right?

I thought the purpose of the tariffs was to restore American manufacturing? If that's true, they should choose a course of action and stick with it. Give it a chance. The rationale behind the imposition of these tariffs seems ever-changing. These pauses and delays will accomplish nothing in the long run and only lead to great uncertainty.

How can such a President who makes such dramatic and apparently whimsical shifts be trusted? This isn't leadership. Trump is too unfocused and undisciplined.

He can’t be trusted because he shifts policy. He should stick it out.

But also, if he does, he just doesn’t care about the opinions of the American people?

Can you please clarify? Would you prefer Trump stand behind his decisions even when unpopular, or would you prefer he change based on public sentiment?

Because it feels like you don’t have any actual convictions and rather you’re simply complaining for the sport of it.

I'm not sure how you derived that. Trump's messaging on his tariffs has been all over the place, and like any other President in his 2nd term, there is no reason for declining approval ratings to cause a sea change.

At the same time, Trump's hypocrisy on signing executive orders couldn't be any more clear. It was one of his most frequent attacks on Barack Obama .... Playing too much golf was (ironically) another.

Objectively, there is little correlation with what he says and what he does. His admin has done a decent job in delivering on promises and proposals, though.

.... but since it's been done almost entirely through executive orders, it will take nothing more than some strokes of a pen to completely undo them, on January 20, 2029, if a Democrat wins. It's the same thing he encountered last time. Anything done by executive order, can be undone by executive order.

It's exactly the kind of presidency he said he didn't want to have in 2016. He's increasing executive power and then exercising overreach. It was the same thing he was so often critical of Barack Obama for.

.... but hey, Trump also said that the safe-guarding of sensitive information would be a high priority. Yet, both Mike Waltz and Pete Hegseth remain in the administration.

It sounds like some folks want a trade war plan of attack leaked to the public, describing everything they plan to do in detail so that the US's interests are undermined when foreign countries can outflank us.

Signal app: "The admin leaked war plans! That's dangerous! Fire 'em all!"

Also: "The administration refuses to leak trade war plans! Fire 'em all!"

Because imposing tariffs is analogous to a pending military strike? 🤔

Trying to win a trade war is very analogous. Both entail misdirection and the enemy not knowing what your next moves, or even what your objectives, will be. The art of war: Know as much about your enemy as possible while allowing them to know as little about you as possible.

So, are we to assume that you expected our gov't to wade into a trade war and publish a 20 step plan so that other nations could outflank us? That was your expectation?

They are not analogous with each other.

.... and Trump has been explaining what his objectives are. He's just all over the place with them, and at times, his explanations are inconsistent with each other. He isn't this 4-D chess player that his MAGA faithful want to believe. Everything points to an indecisive leader, who doesn't understand how to conduct diplomacy.

Off topic .... but Trump recently said that he was starting to think that Vladimir Putin may be negotiating in bad faith on peace talks. You just now figured that one out, Mr. President?
