Seems totally likely unless something unusual happens that Fulwiley is going to LSU. I think the plan seems for her to try point guard with Johnson and Williams on the wings. They have at least three freshman rated as top 20 and if they get Serah Williams along with Koval and Joiner post looks good. Not saying it is better than anyone elses roster, but it is definitely as good as any at least one through seven.

Were going to have five SEC teams that are loaded and four more than are good and the other seven teams all the top five teams should beat no matter where the games are played. A lot of the games of the top five are going to come down in a lot of cases where the game is played. Really need to be able to beat who you play at home cause unless your playing one of the weak seven going to be hard to win on the road.

I consider the weak seven to be Auburn, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi State. Alabama, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Vandy are the next group. Tennessee, Texas, LSU, Oklahoma, and South Carolina are the top tier.

That’s an eye popping percentage for certain. So far I’ve not seen mid-majors transferring up make much impact in the SEC. Shooters in particular seem to have trouble adjusting to the quicker players and defense in the SEC.

Alexus Dye was one of the best who did that. Higginbottom was successful as well but she was originally an SEC player at MIZZOU who transferred down and then back up.

UK had Dazia Lawrence last year. LSU of course with Aneesah Morrow. Others I can think of are Star Jacobs (Ole Miss) and what seems to be most of the past MSST teams (Jerkaila Jordan, Lauren Park Lane, Darrionne Rogers. Destiny McPaul).

Doesn't seem to be all that unusual for there to be players that were above the skill level of the schools they ended up attending. Morrow and Jordan in particular were All SEC players pretty much from Day 1.

I think Fulwiley at PG could backfire spectacularly for them. She doesn't value the ball, and her mind is wired to 100% go for the showtime play and risk a turnover when a simple high-percentage pass would be safer and more effective. I can't imagine Mulkey will go for that.

All the players you mentioned aside from Morrow were half as effective in the SEC. So if the Kentucky pick-ups hold true to that they didn’t do much here.

I wouldn’t consider DePaul a mid-major during the time morrow was there. More of a high major but not a P4, they were perennially competitive though and recruited well.

It could Mulkey won't let it go long if it is not working. Not really her position just the one that seems to be open.

Love these assessments and agree. The one glaring thing that stuck out to me as crucial in all of our losses was the failed dribble drive in the paint, especially with Ruby, resulting in turnovers. I think there were three in a row in our sweet sixteen game down the stretch that was the nail in the coffin. And then forcing a pass out of the lane when stopped and sloppy, cross court passing. Clean those things up and that will also result in some different results.

Yes, Ruby struggled the last third of the season with that. Once players picked up the scout on her and stopped the right hand drive she never adjusted.

She has to come up with a better counter this season or needs to kick the ball faster. Kept over penetrating with nowhere to go against Texas.

Yep, Mulkey is different than Dawn though. Especially with PGs. She doesn’t do the whole “I’m gonna put you in but you have a short leash and if you do XYZ you’re coming out.”

Historically Kim will just bench a player COMPLETELY for a couple games early in the season until they get the message. Then they suddenly become a top PG in the country when they do what she wants.

She won’t let MF run wild out there.

Lawrence had career high shooting percentages overall and from deep. Jacobs shooting percentage was also a big bump. For both of them, they played supporting roles in their new schools as opposed to being the go-to at their previous schools.

Jordan was the go-to at MSST just like Tulane, but against tougher competition. Even then, her efficiency didn't go down all that much. She was also a top 50 recruit, so she was really a P4 player from the get go.

Her 2022-23 Glenville team had 12 different girls with double digit minutes, and girl 13 had 8.5mpg. So probably 'no' to three full rotations, [though I'd be happy if she'd do it just for the 1st half, at least] but yes to deep roster usage. It'd probably be wise, for players outside your top 8, to sub in girls only if the upcoming possession is on the side of the ball (offense or defense) that they're strong in. They still have to play both sides obviously, but if you are strategic about when you sub them in and out, you can have them play 5 or so extra possessions per game on their good side than their bad side, perhaps?

For last year's team, looking at the analytics, that would have involved prioritizing subbing in Boyd and Darby to maximize their offensive possessions, and subbing in Puckett and Favor to maximize their defensive possessions, as all 4 of those players had notable splits in their offensive analytics vs defense analytics.

[This especially applies to Puckett; Tennessee in SEC play evidently averaged 85.1 per 100 on offense with her on the court, contrasted with us having 6 players who were over 100 per 100, and in NCAA Tournament play averaged merely 76.5 per 100 with Puckett on offense... really needed to play Favor and Strickland more, Puckett less]

Cheetah's, usually with a family member, often hunt as a team....One will vigorously pursue the prey, and when the prey tires, the fresher cheetah will take over the pursuit and make the kill....

Coach Kim will now have the same capability with her team of athletic sprinters, and very capable ball players...Keep sending in fresh legs to take away their opponent's ability to resist...The full court press will be ESPN Top 10 worthy.

I agree. But we need less breaks in play by refs. They hurt us on several occasions. Not just the fouls called, but just the overall stoppage of play.

The extended reviews were extremely detrimental, and seemingly purposeful on occasion.
Just give them the ball, but don’t shut down the game.
