Trade Wars and Tariffs

That is sort of what happens when you're trying to affect extreme change in a hasty, unpredictable nature, instead of implementing moderate and measured change
Well, I’m sitting at a quilt show in Kentucky watching the lovely Red Woman sell long arm quilting machines.
Someone forgot to tell all these people there’s a problem.
If there’s a problem, there are no signs of it yet.

Gladly. Trump *reversed* his "policies" on both tariffs and the Fed Chief. Of course, anything he says is really worth nothing.

Utter stupidity.

I doubt that he’s budged on policy. Just his unfiltered utterances. The left eats it up.

He’s right about Powell and interest rates. Lowering them reduces the deficit. Also, the tax policy of making cuts permanent will jump start growth.

But Xi is mad. And I DGAF.

Bucco is traditionally pretty conservative as well. Many on FinTwitter have turned on Trump pretty fast. No opinion, just stating what I've noticed.

Flock buying anything made in Mexico. Shut the border down and ban everything made south of the border. Boycott any manufacturer moving production down there.

And yeah I'm mad! We've purchased 5 Freightliner chassis' last 2 were delivered to our body builder a couple months ago with the wrong transmissions! The 3 we have in service have been constant problems but come on, putting in the wrong transmissions, transmissions completely opposite of what were spec'ed is gross incompetence.
Years ago we were driving my wife's Karman Ghia down to Florida when it developed a problem around Lake City Florida. took it to a local mechanic and they rounded up "Gator" (who was on an ankle bracelet) that said it needed a partial rebuild. Long story short, "Gator" who was supposedly the area VW expert installed the pistons backward. My wife took it for a test drive when we picked it up and she noticed it was wrong right away. SHE dug into Chiltons and discovered that the pistons did have a direction of installation and we went to court and she won. Nothing along the same lines as your story, but yours reminded me of that.

Good times.

Orange Man ain't "bad". He's priceless entertainment.

Flip flopping tariff policy
Alienating our allies
Siding with Russia at the UN with China and NK
Secretary of the Defense...high level incompetence
Most insane conflict of interest with Musk and DOGE
Intelligence agencies

Is that specific enough for you or do you want details in each bullet point

Those aren’t really details. Just a list of things that you are declaring to be train wrecks.

Flip flopping on tariff policy? The goal is to create fair trade, not to slap tariffs on the status quo. Another goal is to secure our supply channels instead of depending on the enemy to not cut us off. Plus manage the CCP’s IP theft and cheating. Another goal is to secure the border and know who is coming in. The left has allowed so many undocumented individuals to rush in that it would take 200 years to process them in the legal system. If the enabling countries won’t comply, then we leverage their access to US consumers and collect a whole lot of revenue, but that isn't the end game. It’s a method to get where we need to be.

Alienating allies? That’s a logical reaction when they lose some of their welfare benefits being paid for by US tax payers. They aren’t leaving. Less free stuff trumps NO MORE free stuff.

DOGE? Bringing to light billions in unaccountable spending on bull **** hand outs? 35 or 40 years later people still fuss about $200 hammers and $500 toilet seats that were charged to the US government by defense contractors. Musk bids on government work. Bezos and Sir Richard are free to submit competing bids.

Yes. Show your work on the details of the train wreck. Maybe he’s just disrupting the corrupt, insane, and unsustainable flow of funds to those that are actually ripping us off.

I'm watching my wife's company start their layoffs. One of the largest wholesalers in the construction area (you'd know them). It's not because they think things are going well

We're also getting goaded into a war we simply can't fight. This will likely be the end if we do

If it's BFC they started laying off people in 2023, again in 2024 and just announced a new round.
