'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

Of course he did

The coaches aren’t going to tell Mark and Gmac that it’s Aguilar’s job and risk them entering the portal also (more so Merk)

I’d be shocked if Aguilar isn’t the guy taking snap 1 against Syracuse
I mean, I think they did tell him he's gotta earn it.

He probably will because he's got waaaay more experience than the other two.

If Merky or Mac beat him out then that will be a really good sign. Aguilar should be pretty good in this systemmm

He will be. You don't pay a QB 1.2 million to sit on the bench. Not like Merk is ready to beat him out, yet anyway. Atleast I believe he will be out starting QB. I've definitely been wrong before.
Actually Nico made 2.0 million sitting on the bench as a true freshman. But this is a different situation all together and I think it will be a real competition with Aguilar being the favorite

Nico could have helped us get a playoff spot. Year 2 as a starter. Spring reports were positive on his progress but that’s all gone now. Expectations have to adjust at this point.
Our coach makes nine million a year to give us the best team year in and out. Everyone deals with losses and kids who quit. You adjust and put the best team on the field. Our staff as a while makes a ton of money. It’s their job to win and I doubt any of the coaches think an eight win season is a success.

I bet everyone on this board at least three times a game said Nico isn’t the guy last season. I thought he was slightly better than Compton.
I gave him grace bc he was 19. I thought he could take a big step forward this year (and we needed him to) and play more towards his potential. We will never know now.

Crompton would not have run out of bounds against Arkansas. He might have thrown a pick or a worm burner to be fair.

Once Kitten rolled Crompton out and split the field, he did much better. Thought theyshould of rolled Nico out as well, just too much for him to process. They were using that GoPro on his helmet this spring for a reason. Regardless, sionara.

AP said it's an open competition.
My 2 cents.

1) Merklinger will start against Syracuse.

2) Aguliar didn't separate himself from the other QB's as expected at UCLA during the spring. In fact, UCLA insiders felt like Luke Duncan as a freshman had a better spring than Aguliar. Aguliar doesn't even finish school at UCLA until early June and his classes are not online.

3) George Macintyre will continue to put on weight and be part of the future. Even Macintyre's family doesn't want him to play this year. They don't think his body is ready for SEC play.

Regardless, of who wins the QB competition in fall camp, UT is NOT paying Aguilar 1.2 million dollars to stand and watch from the sidelines.

You're right, UT is not paying him. Whatever Spyre is paying is just the rate it would take to land an experienced QB in this more limited Spring transfer window. Heupel won't be forced to start him. If the guy doesn't outplay Merk in fall camp, then he just becomes a capable backup...which provides a lot of value considering the circumstances the team was put in. This automatic starter talk is silly. If your point is that the 1.2 million is a sign that they expect him to be the starter, then say that. Otherwise, your post is a little contradictory.
