Tennessee Softball 2025

Twice Dodge has done that in close games. Got to be more careful in those situations but I’m sure she’ll learn from it. Hopefully this propels us similar to the losses to Arkansas. I think we’ll be ready for Ole Miss.
.228 average shouldn’t guaranteed anybody playing time if you’re making critical mistakes.

We can’t win those types of close games without hitting home runs because we can’t bunt or run the bases the last few years.

I guess I’m a Weekly hater again because that is a coaching issue when it continuously happens year after year
The reason we will never win a Nation championship with a Weekly coaching.

The last couple of years everyone on here have been blaming the hitters for not hitting. You guys need to look at a program as a whole. This team only has a couple of hitters and I’m being generous on saying a couple. The ones that are hitting have been hitters their whole softball careers and we are being critical of the ones that aren’t hitting. That all falls back to the head coach and her recruiting. If these girls aren’t known for being hitters before they get to Tennessee there’s no way you can create a hitter in the SEC. That falls back on the coach for the lack of recruiting of hitters and not seeing what other coaches are seeing. There’s no reason hitters shouldn’t be knocking on the door to want to play with our pitching staff.

This team reminds me of the Alabama team with Montana Fouts and it imploded because of underachieving. Some girls want to win and others are just happy to be playing

I had to watch the tape of the game. I am baffled as well as to the whole team dynamics. Bunting, errors, hitting, etc..Even with us handing Clemson 4 runs, we should have still scored plenty to win. My concern is that KP is frustrated and could transfer to a team that can hit more consistently. I’ll defer this scenario to one of my fellow Volnation softball experts.

that’s very very very unlikely to happen imo.

In the past 10 years, has the Tennessee staff, either under Ralph or Karen, ever had a reputation for being amazing at developing hitters?

If so, I would love to know which players over the years you think got significantly better/more consistent at hitting over their LV career. (If not, that would explain not being able to land good hitters)

(deleted the last graph because I got two thoughts going at once that didn't say what I really meant)

Sounds like you're on the bridge dude. It's a non-conference game , step off tge bridge. As far as KP leaving, you'll jump off the bridge before that happens.

Actually, besides pitchers, which players at any position do y'all think finished her career at Tennessee as top examples for young recruits to want to follow in their footsteps as Lady Vols someday because they know they'll become much better players if they do.
Hell I'll run out of room to list all the players . That's not a very smart take.

I agree but I feel that if Ralph was coaching the last 5 years they would’ve had a batter chance of winning one. Ralph never had a team with this much talent over the last couple of years and his teams had softball fundamentals and played with softball IQ. His teams played the small ball and he held players accountable. We have never had a power hitting team but Karen manages games like we are constantly hitting bombs.

Bad players don’t leave this program but we pickup other teams bad players. Let that sink in….

Here’s the golden ticket… Hitters hit and you can’t make hitters but you can recruit them

Were the good hitters good when they got to Tennessee, or did the Weeklys make them good?
i don’t think that philosophy is completely fair. They have made tons of hitters better. Pannel wasn’t great last year and she took a huge leap. I think fiddler is better this year then at washington, nungent has gotten better and that’s just on this year team.

Hey! That's why I asked. I am not (and never have been) a deeply invested follower of the softball team, so because I only follow sporadically, I miss a lot. I genuinely want to know. Good to hear about Pannell.

They didn't get there as college AA, so do I really need to answer. OK, we get it, you donat like Karen. You should choose another team until she retires , it'll make your life much easier.

P.S. I usually start paying closer attention at around this time of year, and (unfortunately) I've noted some frustrating patterns over the years and am annually reminded of the film "Groundhog Day."

If KP was smart she would run to the biggest NIL deal she can get. Imagine if she had 3 to 5 runs every game she pitched how fresh could she be down the stretch run. This team can’t hit and has become a weaker hitting team over the last 5 years. We lose 4 of or better hitters to graduation and there’s no way we’re replacing them like not replacing last year‘s class. We have seen the current roster and there’s not standout bat in it. Faw could be one of the better hitters on this team next year.

Must be my spam account again because any true Lady Vols Fan would know how to spell the teams best players names. I completely disagree because Pannell was an all conference player last year and Nugent numbers are pretty much identical to last year with being all conference and most of Fiedler’s numbers are down from last year. Gibson numbers have went down over the last 2 years, Kiki’s numbers were down her 5th year, the hitters are hitting but they were hitting before coming to Tennessee. We are the 2nd to last hitting team in the SEC infront of Auburn come on really nobody’s getting better

"She just didn’t seem to be herself tonight, and I’m not sure why," Tennessee coach Karen Weekly said. "She wasn’t as sharp, and maybe that was part of it. But usually you just see a little more fire out there from Karlyn. I just think she was struggling to locate her pitches where she wanted to locate them and probably kind of had to grind through that a little bit more than usual."

Wonder why, could it be that you have pitched her in every game the last 3 weeks. She’s tired and needs a rest. It’s ok to trust your other pitchers and give KP a break so she can be fresh.

If she trusted her other pitchers, she wouldn’t need to throw Karlyn that much.

Nugent was a good hitter before arriving in Knoxville. Don’t be that naive to believe her hitting has improved since transferring here. She just didn’t have the batting opportunities at Oklahoma as she does being a regular in the lineup here.

Good point but you got to pitch others to get the trust. Sage was the #2 pitcher portal pickup and Erin was the #2 incoming freshman. This is the best pitching staff in the country and no reason not to pitch them. If she can’t trust others on this staff I can guarantee other coaches are lining up for an opportunity to get them on there staffs and trust them.
