'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

Genuinely curious, what other option did Heupel have? Going after the entire Big 12’s starting QB approach did not work. None of those guys wanted to “Nico” their own team

It’s not like this was Heupels choice. He’s attempting to make lemonade with lemons here

The only other option would be to roll with Merk and Mac which seemed like a bad idea
I keep hearing this, but why didn’t coaches assess the situation better in January? Nico had a foot out door then. Would have been much easier to talk a guy into leaving before spring.

I know quite a few people who give quite a bit to football and every other program. I don't know any that are disgruntled with any of our coaches. I do know some that would have stood on the front lawn as they were packing and given Big Nic the double Gaulden's, given the opportunity. I also don't know any that are blaming Coach Heuple for that situation.

He’s actually a really good guy off the field. Has good poise on the field and doesn’t seem to get rattled.

It’s all but done but they’re still playing cat and mouse with NIL. Everyone knows Vols were offering Nico level money to some of the sitting QB targets so now it gives Joey leverage. They’re at around $1 mill for him at the moment.

And as an App grad and follower I can tell you he is not terrible as some have stated. He had a lame duck coach and no supporting cast last season.
Also follow app state, the supporting cast was good ( robinson horn and jackson). Granted the coach and the play calling sucked, aguilar also wasnt good. Not saying he cant be, app state also had alot more non football stuff going on (hurricane) for the better part of the season

The silver lining here is Nobody has more to prove than Aguilar. If there was ever any reason to have a chip on your shoulder and prove the doubters wrong, it's right now with Aguilar and Heupel.

I don't know why, but I ain't scared. I'm confident with no reason to be.

Bring that Shane Falco energy and LFG

I’m guessing Heup also probably feels like he has something to prove, with Nico and crew running down his offense.

We don’t know that boosters are disgruntled. Only one person is suggesting that and he’s been wrong about basically everything else during this QB search.

Exactly. Also, he literally said UT would not pursue the BYU WR and would go after the FSU WR instead, and then about an hour later AP reported the BYU guy would be visiting 🤣

Go land another DT and more importantly a WR-preferably the byu wr- and 9 wins is absolutely on the table with the roster at that point and with the schedule too

Because bringing in another starting QB and the fourth in the room when we have little scholarships left makes the decision to boot Nico without him messing up. Better to assume his whole family aren't dumb as hell and will pull an embarrassing move like they did.

That’s the biggest issue. Guys who think they’re going pro next year are very cautious about leaving for a new scheme without spring practice to learn that scheme.
That’s and telling the teammates and coaches that are counting on you to peace out. Not to mention their fans

App State’s coach sucked. They made the right move firing him. They just waited a couple seasons too late before they pulled the trigger.
