I think it comes down to UGA, Bama, OU (who will be improved IMO) and UF. We’ll see where UF is by late November. I’m not touching their over/under win total. They could be good or they could just mail it in if they don’t win early with that very tough schedule.Agreed. We should not need an NFL quarterback to beat Syracuse, Arkansas, and Florida. I feel very good about our OL. Think we'll run it down their throats. And Banks STILL hasn't given us a legitimate reason to be worried about his defense. All he's done is make the defense better each and every year he's been here.
We’d have to give him stupid money. And I think I’d rather spread our money out more after the Nico fiascoDon't get your hopes up. A p4 starter is likely not transferring here. It's a huge ask to make them come here and take over an offense in 4 months when they've already got chemistry with an entire offense. Just the way it works
We seem to be on the same page. You guys are setting yourselves up to be disappointed and then have an excuse to blame the coaches.
What starting QB at a decent program is going to move, on short notice, leaving friends, teammates, classes, girlfriends, etc, immediately after spring ball? To go to a new team, learn a new playbook, start new classes, etc?
Most of the guys being mentioned are entrenched and compensated pretty decently. Even if one were willing, we would need to overpay.
Then we are in a situation where we can’t afford to not play him even if he’s bad, slow to learn, distracted, unhappy, whatever.
On top of that, he is now the highest paid guy on the team which will cause issues and we may lose guys.
I’d roll with somebody like Angeli where we won’t need to overspend and we can have a real competition.
There is a real risk of missing out on him too while we hope for a unicorn, and then the chance of having to start the season with 2 QBs becomes real.
I have no doubt that CJH and company would love to have any of these starting QBs mentioned, and we can certainly afford to, but there is more to it than that.
Despite what is being said here, in our current situation, Angeli seems like a very solid option. He’s only got a year, is smart enough to learn the playbook, has some experience, and most importantly, is actually in the portal.
Well considering a lot of QBs are taking pay increases and turning us down, I’d say they don’t want to play for usDeal is done already, not sure who, but one of these Hendon Hooker clones is coming home to Tennessee. We the home Of Peyton Manning, the big12 is home of fly over country, who you think they want to play for.
How about wait and see? We have finished with 10 wins or more 2 out of the last 4 years. And, your perception does not equal reality. I don't care how connected some people are, nobody truly knows how many we miss on, especially during portal season.I acknowledge what Heupel has done to get Tennessee relevant again, but i do question his recruiting. Seems to miss on alot especially during portal season.
You guys are probably right.I agree with you, but I just can’t see Heup stealing a player from Golesh. I get Cfb is cutthroat, but I feel like that’d be the Cfb equivalent of sleeping with his wife lol
Someone give me the TLDRYou guys are setting yourselves up to be disappointed and then have an excuse to blame the coaches.

I swear most people who casually follow recruiting think it's like EA College Football 25. In their minds they're like "why isn't Heupel using recruiting hours on this guy? Just send the house!" These aren't lines of code, they're peopleYou guys are setting yourselves up to be disappointed and then have an excuse to blame the coaches.

You can definitely see who Tennessee has offered on the recruiting trail. But I'm not sure where you stand, but 8th, in the SEC isn't great it's not terrible but not great. Sure there's quality players that he does land but to continue to be competitive you're gonna need more than a couple quality players. How about wait and see? Interesting, but I must admit I’ve never heard of Braxton. Anybody know anything about him?Was looking at a bunch of QBs that have been mentioned and not mentioned yet.
One QB that I noticed Coach Halzle following is Braylon Braxton. Just transferred to Southern Miss. Not sure if he’s a guy we’re going after now or if we were going after him previously.
Also noticed he follows Demond Williams as well, but we heard we weren’t going after a younger guy, so I wouldn’t pay too much attention.
