QB Transfers NEWS ONLY

I thought it might be nice to have one thread for transfer QB news that would keep us from having to search every page. Please post below.
Perfectly good idea. Not sure how you could have done it in braille...

But maybe you could edit your OP to say that if anyone has actual news to post, type "news**" somewhere in your post" and then at least, when we open this thread, we can use the Find or Search feature to locate any post with news** in it.

It's tough to FootballForum-proof anything... but still worth the effort to isolate objective news from the same ol' venting and opining. Sympathy, brother!

Has there been known interest in the Appy St QB that transfered to UCLA that will be losing his job to Nico. From what I read about him he could be a Hooker type QB in Hyps offense.

I’m not down on any of our quarterbacks, MAC is a true freshman and he is going to be a very good quarterback and he wants to be a Vol. Merklinger was a high 4 star and has a extra year in the system. At this time I think he wins the job. Merklinger will get his chance to win it on the field. I expect Mac to push him hard. It will be interesting as the year goes if Merk hold off Mac or Mac takes over. With Brandon coming in next year I think Mac or Merk will emerge as the clear winner in 2026. Brandon very well may beat out whichever one doesn’t start and move to number 2. If that happens we may have to shop for a 3 guy at that point. But the bottom line is you have to play the one that is best, you can’t worry about what the other guy is going to do. Ideally even with Brandon is he doesn’t have to play, that year of just learning the system and getting stronger is big with even the most gifted. But at the same time if Brandon comes in and wins the battle you have to play him. The coaches and the players that are out there day in and out now who the best are, they see it everyday. Bring em in battle it out. GBO

That is the only Jim Carrey movie I can watch. I hate everything he has ever done, but Dumb and Dumber is one of the funniest movies of all time. Jeff Daniels in a slapstick role was genius.

If you haven't seen it, give Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind a whirl. Carrey and Kate Winslet.

Far from the slapstick of Dumb and Dumber, but really caught me off guard in a dramatic role.

The offense has not looked the same because he hasn’t found a QB that can read the D as fast and accurate as quickly as Hooker did.

I think we are seeing to run Hype’s original O the QB has to be very cerebral in addition to being Athletic and good QB
I agree. The same stuff has been getting guys wide open the last two years, but the quarterbacks have not been making the throws. The narrative that defenses I figured out his offense is lazy in my opinion. I don’t think the problem is his offense, I think the problem is player evaluation, and player development. I think the scheme still works you have to have the right players to execute, and that is where I am somewhat critical of him

Faison Brandon will be QB #1 the minute he steps foot on campus.

Agree

It is however hard to see who at HS level has the mental speed capability to move to the college level.

At a lot of positions it’s mostly skills but QB has to have significantly more cerebral capability to be successful at the next level and that’s what makes HS QB evaluations so hard for coaches. That’s why so many teams want to stack QBs and let the competition play out.

I also think it’s why Hype Preferred Milton is he saw the athletic skills but Hooker just had so much more pre-snap read skills in the end.

I hate that our search is single-handedly raising the going rate for QBs.
These other schools are stretching their resources more than we are going to.
No one will ever have enough NIL.
I agree with those who want to put some speed bumps in place.

If things continue in this direction, teams will become decoupled from their respective schools relatively soon. Someone is going to be the first to buy a team from a school. Money talks. Probably start with a small Mac or Mountain West school that will get hedge fund money and then buy the best roster.

The past 2 seasons I’ve seen over Thirty missed TDs from over throws.

Not just over throw, but flat out missing wide open receivers, throwing over their heads, behind them, or just not picking up a wide open guy waving their hands well within his range of vision.
Nico was BAD about staring down receivers, and if they weren't open, it didn't look like he went thru checkdowns.
He'd make a bad throw or take a sack.
Noticed that A LOT.
I figured it was just him being in his first year as a starter, but it didn't get a lot better as the year went on.
Watching Peyton Manning his freshman year, he got way better at reading defenses as the year went on. Nico just doesn't have the same vision Manning had, not even close at the same stage.
Just my $0.02, take it for what it's worth.

The thing I love about being a TN fan is you always know some type of weird crap will happen and we will be the first on the scene.

Run off change. Due to us.

Nil. We sue and really throw chaos into system.

First to have NIL fallout like this.

We are like the hot girl with major issues. Just can’t ever relax and be chill.
