Recruiting Football Talk VIII

As of now viable QB transfer names mentioned include:

Luke Altmyer - Illinois
Avery Johnson - Kansas St
Sawyer Robinson - Baylor
Rocco Becht - Iowa St

Avery & Sawyer outperformed Nico on that bottom chart which compare PFF and ESPN. Luke is similar range and Rocco performed lower.

I doubt he'll ever tell it, honestly. Blood is thicker than molasses in Polynesian families and the father is never wrong... so even if he thinks his father ruined his life, he'd never say that out loud.
He needs to watch Moana and take notes from where she disobeyed her Polynesian father to do what needed to be done so everyone could survive.

You are a liar. I've seen you're picture on the TRI most wanted for your cat wrangling ways. It is known you provide kittens to Chinese restaurants throughout the mid-state area. That's the real reason you've been away. Running from the law. And my backside is clean! I don't stuff small animals up by bum like you and Richard Gere.

Pictures don't lie, Mr. Yeti.

To be clear, I’m not absolving Nico of blame nor disagreeing with how Tennessee handled it.

Two things can be true at once:

1) Nico is in the wrong and learned a tough life lesson. He was greedy and it cost him.

2) He’s still just 20-years old and clearly was not surrounded by a strong support system necessary to keep him from making bad decisions like this.

Nico can be wrong, and this situation can still be sad. Which, to me at least, it is. None of this had to happen like this. He’ll he regretting this for the rest of his life.

I would add that the Polynesian culture fosters a family dynamic where the child is subservient to the parents (even if they disagree or already an adult) in a way that non-Polynesians don't fully appreciate.

The next Polynesian QB that The Vols go after needs to be an Orphan

If I were in the Polynesian community I'd feel compelled to send someone with a great family and great talent just to show "not all of our players have overbearing helicopter parents.' There's the whole respect your elders bit that i think most partially admire but with that comes the responsibility in a younger person life to guide and help. Not teaching Nico to make his own decisions and supporting him through them is not helping learn or grow into adulthood. And running his business yourself does no one any good and is often a disaster.

You can't say father knows best all the time when that's clearly not true.

I like Robertson. He's got a kinda funny throwing motion, but he's accurate and can run a little.
List of attributes for QB in Heup's offense in order of precedence

1. Quick Decision Maker
2. Protects the Ball
3. Accurate
4. Can hit the deep pass in stride
5. Can run
