I bet he doesn't end up getting what he's making here. Just a guess.I guarantee you Dad went shopping him around at the end of the season when he saw that we weren't going to fill the WR room back up with elite talent. (bit of egg on Heup and Danny's face here for taking such a big gamble and everyone questioning why we didn't spend the money needed to reload the WR room) Bet this has more to do with it than anything... He got some offers, more than what Nico was getting now, came back wanting TN to counter (win/win situation- he stays and the team struggles with no offense but gets paid more, or he leaves for a fresh chance and gets paid more) and Danny/Heup said they weren't going to counter... Bye.
My only concern with Nico leaving is the ripple effect…who follows?…Mike Matthews?..I’d imagine our WR being crippled
Yeah sometimes we make it too complicated. Imagine who you could poach for 4 mil.Its a learning lesson for this staff. They have to be more assertive, and go after bigger fish more aggressively.
Its simple mathematics. Very few programs would be willing to throw out that kinda coin for a $1-2 million dollar QB.
Had no problem with the money and return in his first season as a starter, with the expectation that he would WORK on the vital aspects of quarterbacking. But the earlier drama coupled with these self-defeating histrionics is the antithesis of working. If one has confidence in their skillset, they don’t do anything that would risk their pro prospects. Teams look at this and the “character” questions of Pearce come to mind. This is on the front of ESPN for all future GMs to peruse.Tennessee went to bat for him to get paid a record amount at the time for the opportunity to play here. To date, he's gotten a crap ton of money to sit one year and to be medicore another. The fact that he thinks he deserves more is delusional.
