2025 Transfer Portal

Marta and Karoline. Salary was earning minutes when she earned her exit from the team.

We lost that one whole class aside from Rennia. Meme Collins was a really nice player and would have had a great career at UT.

Marta actually has fantastic basketball skills. It’s too bad she was a bit much to deal with.
I was giving a mulligan on Strip due to the coaching change. Same for MeMe, the one person mad that Hollie got fired. Believe Salary turned out to be involuntary. And I never thought Marta was much of a contributor.

Point remains, the program has had a remarkable retention rate in the transfer Era.

We’ve done well with keeping our stars anyway. Speaks to how much fun going to UTK is. Great campus culture and great place to live.

The KState roster was interesting this season. They only had one true center so when Lee was out they had to go to a 5 out offense and he split the time with her, Sanchez and Lester pretty much evenly every game.

They had 6’2”, 6’2”, 6’1” 6’ on the perimeter and then ran 6’4”, 6’4” and 6’3” in off the bench just to wear out the other teams big. When Lee was available Maupin, Lester and Sanchez didn’t see much time. (All elected to transfer I think)

Maupin has a high motor and could score in transition which was not KStates game at all. They were a half court offense team trying to break you down for a three or a layup.

I don’t think she’d be a major part of what we do next season but is a very athletic player who can give you 6-10 minutes a game without making a lot of mistakes. Very few turnovers, doesn’t take bad shots and play really hard defensively. Great player to have in practice.
They also had Kennedy Taylor, the transfer from Missouri State. She started at center when Lee was out, a bit undersized at 6'2", but she had some solid games (e.g., 21 points on 9-9 FGs against WVU in the B12 tourney). I think Maupin got a little buried behind her, too, and would've gotten to play a larger role had Taylor not transferred in.

I do like that her per-40 min block stats are better than anything we currently have (she's at 1.7, Spearman 1.3, Cooper 1.3, and Latham 0.7). We just didn't really have anyone who could consistently erase defensive mistakes last year (and Jillian was only at 1.0 per 40). I hope we're looking at Quanirah Montague out of Mississippi State, too, another player a tier below the "star" post player names but could be a good depth/development piece in this system, and was at 2.0 blocks per 40 minutes (same amount as Okot).

Yes, it’s always so frustrating from the outside looking in.

Last season it was Dauda for me. You just knew she was gonna languish on the bench at South Carolina. She could have helped us a ton and would have played a lot. She can shoot the three and Dawn was never gonna go for that.

Went from 10/6 and 28 minutes to 6 minutes 2 and 1. Sad.

Edit: another one I can think of was Azura Stevens. Geno took her and did almost nothing with her. I know she was recovering when she first got there. But she never really played. She’s such a talent and it was so irritating watching her just sit there.
Yeah, I wonder what was up with Stevens. I feel like I literally never saw her play.

Yeah I’m wondering if we’re gonna look at any of the MSST players. Those kids seemed to love Lazo, obviously not as much connection with those that came after he left but I’d be shocked if he didn’t recruit them some before he changed jobs.

We definitely need better rim protection. A lot of those open layups off the press should be swatted into the third row with the right player.

That’s also the long pass the press is designed to make the offense throw and we very rarely picked it off. So that has to get better too. The second line of the press has to go get those, that’s where the foot speed of some of our returners hurt us the most last year.

A player like Montague is good to have against teams like Kentucky, Texas and South Carolina. Gotta have some with real size that can get in there and bang with their bigs for 10-12 minutes and wear them out. It was too easy for bigs to catch and score on us, have to make them post, re-post and work against a big body to wear them down.

Looking back at her stats I guess it wasn’t as bad as I remember. 14 minutes and she averaged 14pts and 7 rebs. Just felt like she was significantly under utilized especially with that much production in such limited minutes.

Was she playing behind Phee then? That was 17-18

These girls love playing for Dawn...love playing with each other....have opportunities to always compete for the title and are well compensated. That is enough to keep them there. These girls don't 'ride the pine' they all play lots of minutes. They play on national television and are followed nationally each and every game. What in the world would they leave that for? They have the best of both worlds. You also don't see UCONN lose players either. Dawn supports the girls even if they do transfer out. The program nor the players are toxic and the environment plus the fams support will always be a draw for the best players even if they have fewer minutes....geez....coming off the bench at South Carolina is better than starting at most programs. Play before 3 to 4,000 vs 17,000 on average? Come on....get real.
“What in the world would they leave that for?”
Well because they might get to play for the Lady Vols. Only a very few are lucky enough to be a LVFL.

Yes she was good for them. I watched quite a few of their games. They were an interesting team because most of the time they were bigger across the board but smaller at the 5.

They posted up their guards a ton. Sundell in particular. She’s 6’2” and has a great feel for the game. That’s how they beat TCU without Lee. They repeatedly ran Sundell to the left block and posted up their guards with great success. Totally took Prince out of the game having to chase to the perimeter.

One of only two games all season Prince didn’t have a block. The other was the game before against Iowa State. Crooks is hard to block, she has that little fade on her shot and it’s tough to get.

Love Azura, a true ray of sunshine w the Sparks. She's big buds w both Rickea and Rae. Unfortunately she's often injured, missed a big chunk of last yr. She played on the National 3 x 3 team and was outstanding recently in Unrivaled. Can drill the 3, which Lynne Roberts will love. Really counting on her this year

Runs a food truck w her Dad in the off-season, fulfilling a life long dream for him.

Yep...all on Geno for totally mis-using Stevens and giving away what should of been another NC. Never could fathom why she was on the bench during that pivotal game and through out the season really. Total waste of a huge asset and inept coaching if you ask me.

Dee that’s facts. The portal class is coming. Good talent with elite intangibles. CKC is building a contender from top to bottom. The returnees, the portal class, and the freshmen will all be players that can flat out hoop.
I checked out another exclusive forum w/ a sport app and they were saying Tennessee has the best freshmen class and excellent fits for the system. It wouldn’t surprise me at all for the team as CKC said to average 97 ppg. I’ve seen and been apart of these discussions on the other forum, it’s nothing close to the temperament of a few posters here that’s flooding the forum. People are excited to see Tennessee next fall.
The discussions are sticking to the facts, for instance in the McDonald’s AA game where if it wasn’t for the LV commits the East would’ve gotten beat by 40 or more points. The starters got down by 18 points in the first 5 mins lol… put the Lambo Vols in the game and that’s when it became atleast competitive while they were on the court.
Mia Pauldo was the best player on Team East that night and it wasn’t even close.

Just watched the video and it was awesome, hopefully all goes as planned. Looking forward to this season. One more thing she is going to get portal players.

Got $$ and SEC championship regular and tourney, a Final Four, and a natty game. It would be so interesting to hear a player who made that tradeoff talk about whether it was worth it.
Talia Vol Olelhoffen said it wasn’t worth it, because they didn’t win the Championship.

Right now I would take Dunn and Todd as our shooters and scorers and Smith and Williams as our post and think we have the roster to compete for a title. Didn't know how much I liked Dunn until I watched video on her and saw that half the schools in this country are after her. She not only scores she gets in there and rebounds. She fully replaces anything and everything that Spear did for us last season. Todd not much on rebounding and we would be hoping she could repeat something close to the 43 percent three point shooting of last season when she made 67 threes. Smith has a lot of potential played in the shadow at LSU with most of the shots going to three other players. She made 57 percent of the ones she took on just 170 shot attempts. She had 51 blocks in 22 minutes a game. Williams is going to be great for the team that gets her she is athletic and can score inside. Were probably not a big player, but I keep her on the list until she is no longer available.

Some player on the women's side is asking for 600k player was not named, but that is quite a request for anyone I see left in there.

Rumor is Cotie got 300 k out of Ole Miss looks like their coach is getting some good financial backing from some sources. Looks like Cotie took a two lane road into a one horse town and got a bundle.
