"just spend the money" from message board posters is always funny. The money has to exist first. With NIL money, it has to be donated or given by someone. With football and basketball, I'm sure we're spending all we've got currently. Villanova and Louisville and Kentucky don't have football teams to fund or care about. "JUST SPEND THE MONEY" on basketball probably means an 8-4 level of football roster for us, which isn't going to happen.

This conversation comes up every year but it all comes down to the following:

I still think he’s Duke bound unless there was a crazy NIL deal that was thrown at him at the last minute.

This is a change in recent tone; pretty much every mod on GV247 has considered Ament a "long shot"... it could still amount to nothing, but it is a noticeable shift from what they've been saying recently.

In my personal opinion, as long as Duke's "shadow collective" is funneling NIL money through private investment, it's gonna be very hard to beat them for HS recruits that they really, really want.

At same time, maybe some guys don't mind sharing but Duke has a have a ton of forwards already signed. Guy could come start day 1 for vols and be highlighted.

Wasn't really my point. Doug Dickey wasn't shy about saying winning football was the most important thing, and that as long as football was winning, nothing else really mattered.

I won’t say it with the same confidence as you but this was my thought as well. Things are moving too fast to wait on him and hold up NIL resources for too long
