Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

welp, apparently I spoke about my cars dependability too soon. Check engine light came on for the first time ever after it started shaking and would barely accelerate. I was a block from work or I would have gone straight to the dealership.

got an appointment at 1:30 to find out if its time to Ole Yeller it.
Good luck. Hope it's nothing major.

Yep. Good luck bud. Theres quite a few things that could make your light come on and hesitation that arent a huge expense or a death sentence . Hopefully its just a sensor or fuel pump etc. Dealerships are usually super expensive though. Unless I had a new vehicle still under warranty, i would ask someone you trust if they have a mechanic they use. Unsurprisingly, my mechanic is a latino guy and hes much cheaper than a dealership but does good work.

I have been using the dealership for a while. I got burned by a mechanic that came highly recommended, and didn't have any issues with him. Until I did, and he refused to do anything to address the issues he admittedly created. had to go to the dealership to get it fixed up, was still under warranty, and haven't gone back.

Thought about you yesterday. Texted my son a video of Devon Larratt (world champ armwrestler heavyweight division for a decade or more) with the text " Thought you'd like this, he's the GOAT of armwresting, hands down." When I realized the unintentional pun, I thought "McDad would have been all over that." 😆
