Bruce has been amazing at Auburn which is a terrible basketball job with awful history. Might get two Final 4’s there. I appreciate what he did at Tennessee in jump starting the continuous success in basketball. What could have been . Anyway. Good season for Vols basketball. Maybe we’ll crack the Final 4 one day.

Since I'm in a ranting mood, I'll just say thank GOD for Tony V. I like the "Everything School" stuff when we're winning but when we keep coming up short like this in the post-season, especially as our rivals advance and we get thumped in embarassing fashion, it just starts to look kinda lame.

But ol' Tony made good and delivered the hardware. I know that most people rank baseball third, and often a distant third, but it's still pretty important in the SEC. And we're the reigning champions and maybe better than last year. So that's pretty damn cool and is really the only thing that makes me believe we aren't truly cursed.

Maybe a hot take but I would take our baseball, softball and wbb programs being bottom dwellers but our football and basketball programs making final four and competing for titles consistently. And no our football and basketball programs arent elite or competing for titles, elite teams dont get blown out in r1 of playoffs, struggle every conference game, or get blownout in the ncaa tournament

Auburn became a rival the instant they hired Bruce Pearl. Narratives like that creative rivalries, especially with both programs rising under Pearl/Barnes at roughly the same time.

And you really think a loss in the national championship game, for example, is the same as a loss in the Elite Eight?

So Barnes is the greatest coach in college basketball? Nobody else could come here and win? Nobody? Really? Barnes is it? So when he retires the basketball team will just become irrelevant? Wow.

All I’m asking is why is it the final 4 that’s the equivalent and not an elite 8 ? And in all seriousness yes it’s cool to make the playoff but simply making it still doesn’t mean you won anything. Just kinda stone cold facts.

But it shows progression. The mindset of if you don’t win titles you haven’t won anything is strange. It’s like getting to the Super Bowl and losing. Yes you lost but you still made it to the biggest game. Something many other teams couldn’t do.

Many teams that have more titles in basketball than we do didn’t make it as far as we did. And making the final four days something. It says you are one of the four best teams in the nation amongst how many D1 schools? Final fours matter. They matter big time.

Honestly what is the obsession with final 4 anyways? Why do Kentucky fans knock us for no final 4s but they don’t say “no natties”. Isn’t a final 4 just a participation trophy. Losing today is literally no different than losing next week. You didn’t win the natty. Just something I don’t really get lmao

Every sport has a huge accomplishment below the NC…. in baseball….. it is to make the College World Series, Football…. it was to make a New Years 6 game and now possibly the playoffs….. In basketball…. it is to make the Final Four. I hope I get to see us make one someday. I’m going to miss this group of players.
