President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

PH absolutely sent out sensitive/classified information outside of secure channels so he needs to go, him along with MW (the guy that set up the chat).

Goldberg way oversold the "war plans" BS and should be laughed at.
I wouldn't terminate on this event. It was a severe mistake. But there were no bad consequences to our people. Very valuable lesson learned.

I agree it was sensationalized.

I agree with others who think it was a significant breach of security.
I'm pretty much here at this point.

Goldberg way oversold.

There's not a chance in hell if they had a do over they would not have included an outside reporter and the reason for that being the case is it was a f'up and they know it. It's a L. All I see left for them is how big is that L. Probably lots of semantics over "sensitive" vs "classified" or whatever other phrases work best for whichever side is making the argument for/against how bad this really was/wasn't.

IDK, almost anyone in uniform doing the same thing would be courts martialed so IMO the Sec Def should be held to the same standard.
understood. It's not an unreasonable standard.

From a people managment standpoint, inconsequential mistakes are something I celebrate. Those moments cause no damage but highlight holes in our training, their judgement, etc. Can make significant headway from those moments. All that said, I appreciate military and civilian worlds don't operate the same way.

once the story broke, how much better would it have been to admit including someone who had no business being part of the convo and thanking him publicly for his discretion and judgement? But that isn't the way of politics.

I've always been of the mindset that the lower (rank/position) person should be given the most grace for F-ups and that grace narrows significantly as one is promoted. The problem is in the real world it works exactly opposite.

In a traditional company culture, I think that is abundantly fair. In politics, many times unexperienced novices are placed into those upper tier positions. Basically a lower ranked person with experience with an upper rank position of authority. Of course, DJT was completely equipped to appoint more experienced people.

Apparently it was a staffer of Walz that added JG.

Jesus man this isn't complex. It was private communications which someone invited apparently, apparently it might have been a lawyer for one of the cabinet members. That was clearly not the intent going on. Its Presidential privilege information.
is it legal for a third party to publish Presidential Privilege information?

previously you had said the conversation would have been under a non-disclosure, is it legal for a third party to publish that conversation?

Would you have liked the people you were going after in your Herc to know when you would be right over them? An F-18 has some pretty good defensive measures. I’m not as confident in a Herc’s even if they had DIRCM

There wasn't much of anything useful to the enemy in those messages. The most useful info was that strikes were coming which would have given them time to move.

So get your Dandy bloomers out of a bunch.. You Texafaronian

Lol. The item by item specifics aren’t the point. It’s that type of information related to each specific action, ham sammich. It was just an embarrassment until Hegseth ran his pie hole showing how important he is.

Everyone made it back safely. Great. Don’t ever do something this stupid again

That’s a good thing? I’d guess the targets would love to know what strike aircraft were coming and when they were supposed to arrive. War plans was an exaggeration by Goldberg. It doesn’t make sharing those details any less stupid.
The whole thing is bad. I was just asking for what the other poster decided was a war plan and what wasn’t.

Anyway you cut it, this can’t be dismissed as no big deal because it didn’t meet the formal definition of a “war plan”. It was a breach of security and unacceptable, period.

Yeah, I'm not so sure there was anything that put our people at risk but it could have potentially lessened the efficacy of strikes. Still a pretty stupid move.
