Tennessee Volunteers tight end commit Carson Sneedwill make two trips to the Ole Miss campus over the coming weeks. Sneed will be in Oxford to watch the Rebels conduct a spring practice on March 22. He has set an official visit date to Ole Miss for May 30.

The 6-5.5, 235-pounder is a Composite four-star prospect rated as the nation's No. 10 tight end, the No. 6 player from the state of Tennessee and No. 205 nationally by the industry-generated index. In the 247Sports exlcusive rankings, he comes in as the No. 19 tight end and the No, 9 player from the Volunteer State.


Sneed acommitted to Tennessee on Aug. 5, 2024. He was also on the Ole Miss campus last summer.

Sneed also has official visits planned to UCLA on May 16, Miami on June 6, and Tennessee on June 20

VN: “we hate Dabo, he’s such a nerd and hasn’t adapted to modern recruiting and tries to lock commits in to not taking other visits. What a loser!”

Also VN: “what does committed even mean anymore. Guys shouldn’t take visits if committed!!”

I mean…it is a bad look if a commit is obviously looking elsewhere like this. Itd be one thing if he took this visits before he committed, but I dont see the point of committing this early if ur just going to visit elsewhere

Nearly every recruit does it. They do it bc they want to make sure they made the right decision

Hey thanks, Barry. I like your posts too.

That said, we aren't supposed to like anything in recruiting. Divorce your emotions from this, it's all about finding the most effective recruiting strategy possible and optimizing. The staff seems to be OK with kids taking trips, & in my experience, I tend to agree with that decision. It's a sign of confidence, and also a sign of loyalty-- "I trust that this visit is for XYZ, and not serious, and if it is, good, get that out of the way now instead of taking calls halfway through your freshman year." The reality of taking visits as a recruit, even in the NIL era, is largely the same. If it's for NIL, they already know the number, and likely an official visit will go to your top $$$ options so you can get the most out of the school you actually like-- in this case, TN. TN will go to their board, look at their $$$, and make their decisions. I do not fault anyone for squeezing the system to maximize earnings. It's a business, no? TN does it too. The other side of banning visits is resentment and nothing festers like resentment. See what seems to happen at Clemson every other year. At the end of the day, every coach has their style. Ours leans into the "when they remain committed they can then say, yeah, I saw OM, Michigan, UGA, etc. and still want to be at UT. That's important to me and this locker room" and personally I dig it.

Ultimately, this dude's brother is on the team, he's been committed since he was in like middle school and he's been a fan of the program since he was a child, I feel confident he will be clad in orange & white catching TD's in a couple of years. (And I hope he gets paid well to do so!)

Last year at the end of March we had 8 total commits (1 ended up de-committing later in cycle but still) with three 4* and five 3*.

This cycle we have 8 total commits with one 5*, four 4*, and three 3*.

We are gonna finish top 10-12 in recruiting, with a chance at being a little higher. Gonna have a handful of can’t miss types, a good percentage of blue chips, and a few developmental types.

Every year. Y’all may as well get used to the fact that we aren’t gonna blindly throw money at every 5* and outbid every other top team. We are gonna recruit the best players who fit our culture and sign a really good, probably not elite, class like we have for the last few years.

So much unnecessary consternation.

How many "can't miss" types have they gotten past their one big priority every class? How many players have they gotten that will take over a CFP game? Tennessee is certainly miles better than when Heupel first arrived and that absolutely needs to be appreciated but fans certainly have the right to feel frustrated that nothing has changed once flaws have been exposed. There's a long list of blue-chip players this class that Vols had a LOT of traction with early and they seem to have faded as of late in this 2026 class. Obviously, it's still early, but people are not crazy for wanting to move up a notch in talent acquisition after seeing how far away Tennessee truly is from the top. If you want to be 9-3 every year, then yeah, but can't really fault fans asking for realistic things in hopes of a championship.

To my point, one of those can't-miss guys is Nico obviously. What have they done to help him? His entire WR core is teenagers and a mid major transfer IN NICO'S DRAFT YEAR.

Tennessee was in on a good handful early this class, but as I said all the ones that people got their hopes up for (and with good reason), where is Tennessee in those recruitments now? The clear positions of need for the future in my opinion are QB, RB, WR, OL, LB, DB; so they need everything. You got Faizon so check at QB. Who else?

To be clear, they need premium guys leading these position units. People just point to the fact that Tennessee lost to the champion, but there's a talent gap with the Vols and Oregon, Georgia, Penn State, Notre Dame, etc. It's time for this program to go from good to great. That is why people are complaining
