Trade Wars and Tariffs

Anecdotal story time, we received notification from Dell yesterday that all non-executed quotes (3/5 6:00 AM EST) would receive recalculated pricing (+10-25%) to reflect increased tariff costs on all products entering the US from Mexico, Canada and China, except CSG notebooks, displays, AI optimized servers, and certain ISG storage products.
Ever since inflation ramped up, this is SOP in construction and renovation. Bids are only good for 30 days and subject to new pricing if after than deadline.

GE Oil and Gas used to have 180 day terms
Just ridiculous why anybody would waste time on those azzholes

They don't buy many US goods because of the tariffs. That's Trump's point.

How are Americans this stupid?

Tariff communication has been dumb but all Trump is asking Canada to do is stop flow of Fentanyl across the border. What is so hard about that on Canada's part?

Lol. How hard is it to win the war on drugs?

Trump is only after a political win

Right. Those numbers aren't squat compared to how much we buy from those countries. That is the point.

Date of that post?

I do think Trump has been idiotic with Canada. The 51st State crap was uncalled for. Canada has always been a solid ally. There government can cause **** for us at time but overall the nation has been a great neighbor.

He said that 2 days ago

If $80K was the previous list price then the addition of a 25% tariff would not change the selling price to $100K. I could respond immediately because I know how it works. That dealership is applying its standard markup on top of the incremental cost imposed by the 25% tariff (price gouging).

The tariff is 25% of the dealership's cost of the vehicle, not the selling price. The only way to mark the selling price up 25% is to build in your standard markup on top of the incremental cost of the tariff.

They are trying to take advantage of people that don't understand how it works. In this case, that is you. Luckily, I'm sure you'll have company in that situation.

You feel free to pay a dealership markup on the cost of the tariff though, since you know so much more than me because you listened to a TV reporter.

Report I read said 5,400 lbs have have been seized at the southern border YTD. 10 lbs at the northern border. So right now .0018 of border seizures of fentanyl are at the Canadian border.

I'd be curious to know what would be an acceptable level to have the tariffs removed.

Tariffs don't work. Our moron President doesn't know history, so here we are... doing stupid ****.

Tennessee is in the cross hairs of Canada now. But Mexico is next to reciprocate. Guess who will feel the pain here...

Jack Daniel's maker says Canada pulling US alcohol off shelves 'worse than tariff'
