Trade Wars and Tariffs

No, that's literally it. The reporter showed a Jeep Compass before as context, showing the markup because it's made in Mexico. Then he went to the Ram and did the same math.

It's amazing to me that anybody would say "wrong" to me 3 seconds after I posted something accurate. You did no research. You just spouted off as if you know, not knowing fkn anything. Kick rocks, you waste of time.

Buy Nissan, it is made in Smyrna Tennessee. No tariff impact.

$80k to $100k? Supply/demand much? When the $100k 2025 trucks are still sitting on dealer lots in 6 months they’ll quickly become $70k trucks. That are really more like $50k worthy.

Where is Toyota assembling their pickup trucks? They could be the biggest beneficiary.

Ironically, a lot of the foreign brands like Honda, Nissan, and Toyota have more manufacturing in the US than the US brands.

How come other countries don't complain about high tariffs on US goods charged by their own countries government?? Or does it only hurt our citizens
I think citizens those countries do complain, we just aren't aware of it.

Many Tier 1 suppliers, where the parts are actually manufactured, started using mostly domestic suppliers for the raw materials 30 years ago
The price of a globalized economy is that nothing happens in a vacuum. Even if we exclusively used local materials, the market price will change and the price of everything will go up. Everyone will charge what they can get away with charging. If the cost of the tariffed product goes up 25%, domestic suppliers will up theirs to 20% because they'll still be the cheapest option around.

I'm still hopeful that Trump balks because there's 0% chance any good comes from this.

There's a much better than 0 chance good comes from this.

Fair enough..I tried searching for articles, but couldn't find anything...
Honestly, that is surprising. I would have expected articles of citizens in other countries complaining about tariffs would be easy to find.

What are the "good" things you can imagine?

Anecdotal story time, we received notification from Dell yesterday that all non-executed quotes (3/5 6:00 AM EST) would receive recalculated pricing (+10-25%) to reflect increased tariff costs on all products entering the US from Mexico, Canada and China, except CSG notebooks, displays, AI optimized servers, and certain ISG storage products.
