I haven't posted here in a while. Watching what's happening now in this "peace process" (read Ukrainian surrender) is probably the morally reprehensible thing a U.S. president has done in my lifetime.

It's like Trump and Putin are the modern Molotov and Ribbentrop, negotiating how to split up Poland between themselves.

Utterly disgusting.

That was done by the neocons at the beginning, they wanted the big prize i.e. Russia. The neocons which you seem to support still won but as right now, they only won a portion of the Ukraine and the military supplies and kickbacks that came as a result.

The US has no business pouring taxpayer money down the Ukraine hole. Seems to me, Trump is negotiating the US's financial withdrawal. He could just cut all funding and tell Ukraine to do the best they can. They will have a MUCH better go at negotiations with the US's voice in it.

After that, they are welcome to take the terms or leave them. They are a sovereign country.

Trump ran on ending the war. It was quite clear he wasn't for giving them money. He was elected. He's not the problem if you are that bothered by this. And, as someone who believes we made commitments to them, I have no problem with us expecting to be paid back in a reasonable amount of time. We should not be getting these rights forever

The U.S. needs to prepare plans to bring them back, a process that could take time. I doubt they are at war this week with each other. They should have been brought back from Turkey long ago.

I doubt the U.S. really recoups much of anything, not sure that is the point even. Trump is telling the midget we are moving on with or without you. Its looking like the midget is running out of track very quickly.

This is one wild card out there that could benefit Ukraine--if something causes Trump to turn against Putin (unlikely, but possible).

You know how I feel and I agree with everything you said. If anything seeing that the mineral rights are on the table it shows just how badly Puddinhead (mis)managed the whole situation for three years. And yes Trump was very clear on his feelings during the campaign. He was elected. This situation shouldn’t shock anyone. I’d hate to see three years of effort pissed away at this point but I’ve got no problem trying to recoup our expenditures to date and any future ones.

Its really no different than the plan the Biden administration was involved in last summer, from what we can tell Trump increased amounts and adding oil/gas and other infrastructure. I doubt we will get much back of anything, matter of fact Trump said basically that... .he didn't know if it was worth anything.

There is no 3d chess, there isn't even chess going on or checkers.... this has been tic tac toe from the beginning. The Ukrainians lost, they have almost nothing to bargain with.... Trump is saying it needs to end and you got nothing.

The only reason we became so heavily involved was to cover up Obama and Biden's corruption. Give Z to Putin, then perform the biggest audit of all time on where the money went, because the vast majority didn't go to fighting Russia. In fact, our dollars helped prolong the inevitable and led to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian deaths.
