In my household the last year working full time for both of us, 2022, the wife and I grossed considerably more than you did (considerably more due to some restricted stock sales at my retirement, otherwise just more than you did the other years) and we still saw our effective tax rate decrease. Thousands net less than the prior years before the cut. Now our return was smaller, but being intelligent and able to do basic addition on the monthly income, we saw more net money in our pockets so obviously I expected a smaller return. Also we SALT capped too. So your case is made up ******** or whoever does your taxes is a moron.

Why would I bother if you insist that economic cycles of expansion and contraction are tied to the tiny slices of 4 year terms and only occur within that president's term. Without regard of overlap of either expansion or contraction, and the other things I mentioned that play a greater role in those cycles.

Believe what you want but economic cycles don't give a shite about your team jersey.

It's the same interesting take long before Trump. Presidents are a distant 3rd, if that, impacting the economy, behind the FReserve and Congress. They can sign or veto what's put in front of them, regardless of their advocacy towards it.

Aside from that, it'd be interesting to see how split control of Congress and the WH - and one party control - affects the equation.
