'10 WA QB Garrett Grayson

After watching the video. The kid has an arm, is accurate to the point he hits the receivers in the chest 95% of the time and He loves UT. I would venture to say he compares well to any other QB I have seen posted film on. I would even say his upside potential is better than most. I understand he is a spread QB. But the assumed intelligence witnessed in the film is impressive. Also since he compares to or exceeds scroggins ability and maturity I think I like him better than scroggins.

Just saying.

He can play.... He throws the ball on a rope. Ball doesn't hang in the air. I saw one deep hitch that i was very impressed with. Ball got there before the db could react. He lead the ball carriers out of the backfield well. Not amazing but not a bad player.

Wow thanks for the video. Arm strength is not an issue at all. Explains why in the articles it was never mentioned as an issue. There is one pass he hit a guy in stride about 40 yards down the field plenty if zip. This kid is very good IMO. I still say Scroggins throws the deep ball better as far as mix of accuracy and zip and it is not a little differnce. Scroggins throws a very accurate deep ball it has a wow factor. Grayson is as good or better on the short stuff. Over the middle Grayson throws the ball with more zip then Scroggins. Grayson has better measurables as well. We will just have to see what the coaches think.

I don't think they are going to do much as I said until they see these guys play with their own eyes. All of the guys providing info from the west thanks and let us know if you hear anything. We will be very happy to hear info if a coach makes contact.

I told people his spring film was very impressive. He looks like a completely different player than he does on the Rivals film.

He has good size and awareness and obviously athletic ability based on his VJ and 40 times. His accuracy is really impressive.

I agree their...in the 1st two mins of the video it look like o-line playing in the secondary!

The entire video looks like they were playing 7th graders. Doesn't make too much of a difference when you're judging arm strength and accuracy though.

Yeah, but the arm strength and accuracy do not change no matter who you are playing. I like he had a couple pump fakes as well. In the other video his line is so bad that he never had time to do any of this or even step into a throw. Also in the other video other teams Ds were a lot better. In the new video there was less rush and he got to show his full range of abilities. This explains why in Camps he is blowing away the competition. He will need to adjust to game speed in SEC. Does anyone know if he can make it by Spring?

I saw him look off Db's thats very impressive from a high school qb. He stood in the pocket very well and made check downs.

Um, we need to take notes and be damn sure we don't recruit ANY of the defensive players. What scrubs...

the pump fake is a lost art really, i used it some in HS , but when i was at E&H i was lucky enough to be able to get a pass off let alone pump faking LOL

Not sure what that's supposed to mean. I like the kid, and (now that Rettig is gone) would like to see him get an offer whether Scroggins commits or not.

TENNacious:
Now that's a brilliant deduction ...You could say the same for every offensive player's highlight reels...they ALL get blown up in the reels.
Please explain to us, professor...just how could you tell how well a defense is playing from a highlight reel where they get burned on every play shown?

You're playing a losing hand...admit it and move on. You can't tell a defense's worth from a few OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS...PERIOD. Nobody can...except you with your trusty 3D goggles...able to pierce through time and space.
Ok...in that case I give up Throw the man a dollar and let him read your future

Chief, the point was you were trying to say how bad a defense was, based and OFFENSIVE highlight reel.
You can watch a boxer take a few punches, but unless he's lying on the canvas, how do you know how the whole fight went, just by watching a few blows landed?

It's one thing to say some of their players look small, it's another to say "that's the worst defense I've ever seen"

Of course they look bad...every offensive highlight shows a defense getting blown up. How can you tell if those highlights were indicative of how the defense played all game long. You can't.

I can't even do that on Xbox!
Really, I did notice that too. Impressive. Maybe Lamaison will step up and be good enough to start in 2010. That could give this kid a year to develop and actually succeed.

Have the coaches not realized that "slow playing" these QB's isnt working at all? You would think they would realize that the fact that Jesse is even considering USC means he isnt afraid of competition at his position at all. We should have offered Rettig at least as soon as BC did....but we "slow played" and missed on the last QB in this class who had enough "name recognition" to bring skill players to The Hill as well,

How do you know it isn't working? They have been exceptionally decisive when they've seen kids they absolutely wanted. Maybe they're slow playing these kids because that's what their actual market value is.

IOW's, if there were another Blake Bell in this class they'd be all over him immediately

why in the world do so many people think lamaison will start?

he will most likely never play a meaningful snap at UT.

He won't start this year or probably even next year, but if we don't get a good QB in this class, I'd say he has a good chance to start at UT at some point, perhaps 2011.
