'10 WA QB Garrett Grayson

It's funny, the same line (for the most part) that was heralded for keeping Ainge so well protected, is being discarded by their own fans, as now being substandard.

Seems pretty clear to me, that the problem was the offensive line being in a state of disarray since clawson's offense had them thinking too much. Defense's are just too quick for that. Trying to flip lineman shows that it was just too gimicky. Maybe Clawson felt he had to impress with complex alignments and such, instead of staying simple.
But yeah...3 OL coaches, and 2 of those with NFL experience...we should be in pretty good shape.

Yeah that system was murder. Zone blocking is a lot easier to understand. I got a brief run through of it a few weeks ago at camp. if it's done right then it's very effective. We'll see a new tennessee volunteers this year, a better tennessee volunteers. Book it.

Besides Spencer Tillman, Lou Holtz, and other commentators, I don't recall a single TN fan lauding the offensive line for their abilities in 07. Ainge was constantly under pressure and threw it away at first threat of a sack, we never picked up needed short yardage, etc. Sacks are only one measure of a line's ability.

We were good enough to be one game away from the NC

You think that if we had beaten LSU we would have played in the NC game? Not so fast my friend. We would have been grateful for a BCS game, but we would have never been in the NC game in 07. Too many higher ranked teams.

With the BCS the way it is i wouldn't be surprised. Either way if we had won we'd be in a BCS bowl.

I think that LSU did play in the Sugar because it was the NC game, but we would have gone elsewhere.

How do you like living in Athens? We lived in Watkinsville several years ago and really enjoyed it. I did think that the crime situation in Athens is pretty bad for a small town however. My wife was threatened in shopping center parking lots on several different occasions and my car was broken into in Athens, but out in the surrounding areas was pretty nice.

We may have. just saying some cards could have fallen our way.

It's nice. I actually live in Barrow county but i'm about 3 min away from Watkinsville. It's a real nice place. Your right about the crime though. I think it's cleared up a little bit in the past few years but it's still pretty bad.

Sab the kid himself said that he did not know he was going there until he was in Atlanta. And they went the next day. Slow played or not is not the issue. Kiffin is technically on vacation whether in office at time or not. Which I have seen no proof either way. You just want to distinguish between him and Scroggins and then set up your point that the coaches have misplayed the QB recruiting. Everyone knows Scroggins is a more valuable recruit. No need to point it out on a board this recruit is probably reading. Hint Hint

The fact is this was a stop by basically unannounced until last minute. Could Kiffin had heard hey this kid is in town today and ran from where ever he was? Yes, if he was in town. No, if he was in Tampa. Which again the radio interview thing to me confirmed it n
ot at all. I have heard he did in fact go to Tampa somewhere around this time so we do not know.
Just leave it alone and wait until February to attack the coaches. I bet no one wants to at that time.

If a kid you want is in town all the way from the west coast, you're going to make time for it. Even though Kiffin was on "vacation", he was sitting in his office drawing plays up. I'd say that he could have taken a little bit of time out if need be.

And honestly, who cares if he's reading it? It shouldn't be hard to deduce. Especially if the kid has no other offers that we know of. He may get one eventually, but at this point, we aren't offering anyone until Scroggins decides.

The offensive line has had more bad years than good years lately. Clawson's offense can only possibly attributed to one of those units.

We got an emergency backup in Rozier. Even if CLK brought Lamaison in for depth purposes, he's not just going to bring in someone who has NO chance to compete for a starting spot. If that were the case, CLK would've kept Boyd...ESPECIALLY since Boyd (5*) would've attracted more offensive talent.
He has said time and time again that he does not want to take someone that he feels will just get beat out and ride the bench by the guys he brings in.

Yet, you're saying he brought Lamaison in for that explicit purpose. How can you reconcile that with CLK's own words?

BJ leaving forced a change in his thinking as relates to spring practice:

1. No guarantee they sign a high school QB that can be here in spring.

2. No guarantee that Rozier will be here in spring.

Hos do you have a spring practice with just Nick Stephens as the only QB you have?

Things change and sometimes you have to execute a process you don't believe in. Happens.

What do you mean that there's no guarantee that Rozier will be here in the spring? Do you think he'll quit if he doesn't really pan out?

BTW, getting back to Grayson.... I don't think we were ever going to offer, based on what I've read and the way he was treated when he visited last week, but if we were to offer, have we "Rettig'ed" ourselves out of contention?

He's already said he plans to wait to see if we offer before he decides, so I don't think that would be the case.

But IMO it's a moot point because it's unlikely that he'll get an offer anytime soon, if ever. I get the feeling we would pass on him completely if we get Scroggins, but that's JMO.

If Scroggins commits, I think we're going to wait til somewhere in the midst of the season to evaluate some of these other guys...including Grayson, Baty (if he looks good, getting him would mean opening up a South Florida pipeline to one of the most talent-rich schools, Saint Thomas Aquinas, especially since his teammate, Palardy, already committed) and Cam Newton.

I think Grayson only gets better.
