Probably, but maybe not 1st ballot. He should have won RoY (finished 2nd to Ichiro). If he spent his entire career in Cleveland, putting up the same numbers, does he get in?
I got no problem with Ichiro being first ballot and nearly unanimous, but it’s almost as if his last several seasons of stat collecting and subpar performances gets ignored like they never happened, yet that seems to be what gets brought up when it comes to Andruw Jones and why he’s not gotten in yet.
Bradley Doolittle has a great column about it on ESPN, but the short of it is based on advanced metrics, Andruw’s best 10 seasons are better than Ichiro’s and in the top 99.5% all time.If Andruw played college ball, didn’t come to the majors till he was 24 and then phased out at 34-35, he would have gotten in already. He gets punished for being so good so young. And the fact he was an absolutely workhorse playing CF and his knees happened to give out.

Same “reasoning” was used against Dale MurphyI got no problem with Ichiro being first ballot and nearly unanimous, but it’s almost as if his last several seasons of stat collecting and subpar performances gets ignored like they never happened, yet that seems to be what gets brought up when it comes to Andruw Jones and why he’s not gotten in yet.
