The sun staying out later isn’t ST year round, it’s DST. Trump is talking about eliminating DST which means the sun would set earlier year roundSo you want ST year round. What Trump and congress are talking about is going to DST permanently. I.e. eliminate the time change. I want to eliminate the change and go to permanent DST. I'll sacrifice an hour in the summer for an hour in the winter. In a year or so, IDGAF.
I am curious to see the MSM spin on this.Obviously owns stock in fake tan companies. Less sun means more fake tans.
Orange man bad.
I don’t think most people want it dark at 5pm though, it’s not some “left” thing just because Trump mentioned itI am curious to see the MSM spin on this.
MSNBC Breaking News: Trump vows to eliminate Daylight! Our panel will discuss how Trump plans to deport the Sun to another galaxy and the role Elon Musk will play.
Panel members: Some Hispanic lady screaming that Trump wants it dark so he can terrorize your Abuela.
Nerdy white guy with blue glasses telling us how living in darkness 24/7 was always a goal Hitler pursued.
Joy Reid suggesting that Trump is eliminating Daylight because women of color, historically, have always been scared of the dark and this is Trump getting his political retribution against black women that voted for Harris.
“Eliminating daylight is a threat to our democracy”.
Brazil does change. But their change is directly opposite of ours. We go from a 1 hour difference to a three hour difference.I work in business overseas and it does create headaches when working with nations that don't have Daylights Savings Time. Granted, it is only a minor headache and manageable.
Backward. If it gets dark at 4:30 now under DST it would be 5:30.If DST were permanent, it would be dark in Crossville before 4:00 PM in late December, and light in Knoxville until about 10 PM in summer. Those near time Zone boundaries throughout the USA would see dramatic changes. Under current times, sundown in Crossville on Dec 21 is 4:30 PM.
All DST is is the government ordering everyone to get up an hour early from March through November. If DST were permanent, it would be dark in Crossville before 4:00 PM in late December, and light in Knoxville until about 10 PM in summer. Those near time Zone boundaries throughout the USA would see dramatic changes. Under current times, sundown in Crossville on Dec 21 is 4:30 PM.
Do you like or dislike Daylight Savings Time? I’m sure this topic already has a thread. But I figured rather than digging it up, I’d start a new one and include a poll.
You are free to believe whatever you want, Round-earther.Daylight saving makes the nights neither longer nor shorter. The earth rotates once every 23 hours and 56 minutes, no matter what games we choose to play with our clocks
If you work in IT it is even worse. All databases and logs get really screwed up. The night of falling back, you have double records of every minute between 2 and 3 am (example 2:30 am occurs TWICE)). In the spring, a whole hour is missing between 2 am and three am. If you are doing calculations and you want to see how long a process was running between 1:58 am and 3:15 am, the answer is 17 Minutes, not 77 minutes. If the boss asks how many people logged in to your website at 2:23 am the answer is undefined because that time will not appear in your records.I work in business overseas and it does create headaches when working with nations that don't have Daylights Savings Time. Granted, it is only a minor headache and manageable.
