So, in order to stay in cycle, we would basically go to work when we want and get home when we want. That's not practical. If you switch ST to summer and DST to winter and change on the equinox, it keeps our schedules more closely aligned to sunrise and sunset.

DST pushes changes 2 hours vs keeping them nearly equal. For example in W. KY, it gets black dark in the summer between 9:30 and 10. In winter between 4:30 and 5. Switch the tone changes and it gets dark between 8:30 and 9 in summer and 5;30 and 6 in winter. A 3 hour spread vs 5 hours.

The British historian A.J.P. Taylor said of The Great War "that it had the power to change the position of the Sun in the sky." One of my favorite quotes regarding that cataclysm.

Supposedly deaths from heart attacks and such rise when the time changes. Because of this and that the change stems from it, it has been said that the War continues to claim lives every year.

The NE is actually taking about going to Atlantic time which would give us 5 time zones.

This is my only concern. I love to do some porch sitting in the summer. Come off the golf course and sit a little bit with a glass of whiskey. The later the sun stays out the better.
So you want ST year round. What Trump and congress are talking about is going to DST permanently. I.e. eliminate the time change. I want to eliminate the change and go to permanent DST. I'll sacrifice an hour in the summer for an hour in the winter. In a year or so, IDGAF.

You need to be clearer in your distinctions.
