See the facts below, but let the witch hunt continue ...
From the article:
NBC News had reported in October that the investigation into Gaetz had stalled, according to attorneys who have represented witnesses and people who have been subpoenaed or have spoken to investigators. The attorneys briefed about aspects of the case said the probe stalled over concerns about the credibility of two key witnesses or a lack of direct evidence implicating Gaetz, who has denied all wrongdoing.

DOJ tells Matt Gaetz that he wonāt be charged in sex trafficking probe, his lawyers say
Prosecutors had spent months investigating allegations that Gaetz was part of a scheme that led to the sex trafficking of a 17-year-old girl.www.nbcnews.com
That's allot of people involved..seems like a conspiracy theory. Not saying it isn't true as most conspiracies have come true..just finding it hard to belief there is no criminal case there for some kinda charge.you should read up on what allegedly went down, and it makes the bolded make more sense.
the partner who got arrested for sex trafficking minors had a pretty elaborate scheme. He hooked a couple pre-18 girls on drugs, money, the usual stuff. he then used those pre-18 girls to recruit other pre-18 girls. Gaetz allegedly only had sex with the first group of pre-18 year old girls. The first group of pre-18 year old girls were eventually included into the group of conspirators. and only after that was their testimony that Gaetz had sex with them called into question as some legal mumbo-jumbo mutually beneficial (but should still be illegal) consensual acts vs just pure criminal.
There are some links between Gaetz and the prosecutors who labeled the first group of pre-18 girls conspirators. the partner who is doing jail time apparently had a bunch of legal businesses as well. that had a lot of the local rich and powerful as investors. including ties to the prosecution so that he could protect himself.
because of the first group of pre-18 girls getting included, more charges than those just against Gaetz were dropped. Apparently the partner was looking at some much worse sentences untilhe gotthe first group were labeled conspirators. he wasn't able to dodge all the charges because the case went outside of the scope of just the local jurisdiction.
apparently there were calls for the prosecution to be investigated because of the above. but those investigations never happened because there was a certain Congressperson who made sure it never happened.
all of this is alleged because it hasn't been proven in court. but it reads like a bunch of criminals protecting each other.
pretty sure the partner is in jail, or at least somewhere in the criminal process. That's allot of people involved..seems like a conspiracy theory. Not saying it isn't true as most conspiracies have come true..just finding it hard to belief there is no criminal case there for some kinda charge.
I have read a number of articles on the case. If there is something there, then the DOJ should bring charges. The Biden administration is doing last minute pushes for their Ukraine and climate money laundering schemes so a simple DOJ case should be no problem. Unfortunately for them, this is a FL case and not in NY or DC.you should read up on what allegedly went down, and it makes the bolded make more sense.

As Matt Gaetz faces opposition, Trumpās other DOJ picks could anchor his confirmation
āWe are building an incredible team at the Department of Justice in the Trump/Vance Administration!ā Gaetz said. āWe canāt wait to get to work for the American People.ājustthenews.com
"Gaetz is a graduate of the William & Mary School of Law but worked only briefly in private practice before entering public office. Standing in stark contrast to his nomination, however, are those whom Trump has named to serve as his deputies."
Not qualified to be a congressman let alone AG.
Term limits people term limits.
I very much believe in innocent until proven guilty. but this very much reads like any number of cases of the government not looking into the government incase they find something.I have read a number of articles on the case. If there is something there, then the DOJ should bring charges. The Biden administration is doing last minute pushes for their Ukraine and climate money laundering schemes so a simple DOJ case should be no problem. We all know that given the track record of attacking their political enemies that the Biden DOJ would have brought charges if they had just a shred of hope in this case. Now as it stands, it is a good thread on DU or for a Joy Reid segment on MSNBC.
heck no. at least on the level of accounting I would expect in a criminal case.Would you have more trust in a civil investigation and trial (if it went that far)?
You believe the criminal investigation which was shuttered in February is corrupt?heck no. at least on the level of accounting I would expect in a criminal case.
IF Gaetz was found innocent (not guilty) in a criminal investigation, but held liable in a civil investigation that would not rise to the level of proof to hold him out imo.
I just want it investigated/prosecuted at a criminal level by people not tied to any of the parties. In this case there are enough shared interests for me to question the prosecution. nothing has been proven, which is why I have been trying to correctly use "allegedly".
depending on how you are using corrupt, yes. I think the involved are smart enough, embedded enough, to avoid most of the legal trappings of corruption in this case. You believe the criminal investigation which was shuttered in February is corrupt?
Is there currently a pathway for an ethical 3rd party investigation?depending on how you are using corrupt, yes. I think the involved are smart enough, embedded enough, to avoid most of the legal trappings of corruption in this case.
I believe a true third party investigation would find things were done in a careful manner to avoid legal pitfalls while also allowing the investigation to fail.
Neither do I. Thought possibly there was some sort of Avenue along the same lines as an independent counsel (not the same, I know).I have no earthly idea.
I don't think you have to be found guilty to not be appropriate/approved for a cabinet spot. those are two separate issues in my head. I had honestly forgotten the details of the case until he got appointed and someone in this forum said something that made me go back and review things.Neither do I. Thought possibly there was some sort of Avenue along the same lines as an independent counsel (not the same, I know).
If you distrust what has been done and cannot find another way you trust more, how do you reconcile the concept of "innocent until proven guilty" in this instance?
Understood. The salacious stuff is more icing on the cake of your opposition rather than the cake itself?I don't think you have to be found guilty to not be appropriate/approved for a cabinet spot. those are two separate issues in my head. I had honestly forgotten the details of the case until he got appointed and someone in this forum said something that made me go back and review things.
him not be qualified (no experience as a prosecutor), and being a political creature are enough to disqualify him imo. Assuming the senate approval is purely subjective. if there are objective requirements, and those are all that are considered, and Gaetz meets them then that would change my opinion on this aspect.
