Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I’ve been wrong and could be wrong and could be wrong about this…but I think Alabama fans are going to get a heavy wake up call over the next few seasons. They’ll still be good. 10-2, 9-3 kind of good. The dominance of the Saban era is over, though. DeBoer doesn’t own the SEC officiating office, so the rigged nature of Bama games will largely be over
It’s going to be a slow decline into the death of a dominate program and I am here to happily watch it go down.

What's your definition of big time running backs?

2024 Class = Peyton Lewis 13th RB in country and a 4 star (may actually be the fastest player on the team too...)
2022 Class = Dylan Sampson 24th RB in country and a 4 star

I'd say the main reason we don't see a high rated guy in the 25 class is it's a first year RB coach for us...but if Sims can land Hiter or Groce...(2 of the top 3 in that class at RB) LORD help the SEC!
good points

They're more 9-3 than 10-2 moving forward. An 8-4 season wouldn't be a huge surprise (could happen this year). SEC is tough as nails now and they have less of a talent advantage and a much worse coaching staff/head coach.

My question is can we offer enough in NIL to make him stay? He’s the best DB since Eric Berry.

We offered enough to get him here this season...McCoy will be in "NFL draft mode" next year, and a potential top 5 National title contender (with Nico in 3rd year) for one of the biggest brands in all of college football will be hard to beat for NFL scout attention.

Yeah, Bama beating Georgia and still having 2 losses with 5 games left to play is wild...

Missouri can beat them, LSU could, hell if OU somehow gets their offense figured out they could as well.

Problem with DeBoer is that his system of offense is pretty one dimensional and pass heavy. And he's never had an elite defense under him as a head coach... So if you don't play great defense and you can't run the ball, you're going to struggle in the SEC.

He's also never stayed anywhere until year 3, so will be curious to see what happens at the end of next season especially if he's produced 2 subpar seasons for them.
