Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I get why some people think storming the field last night was really gauche, I myself was like..."come on, don't do that"...but then I remembered the built up and very real stakes of this game we've been hearing all week, and I realized this wasn't just about beating Alabama for the first time in forever like in 2022.

We knew if we lost, the season was probably over as far as post-season goes. Storming the field kast night wasn't just about beating Alabama...it was about beating Alabama when it mattered, when we had to.. and when we've been walking around with a dark cloud over our head thanks to our surprisingly inept offense for the last 3 weeks.

This crowd showed up, and they were HUGE in this win...they helped make Bama thoroughly discombulated.

So...I don't care if they stormed the field...they were a big part of this win, and the win was huge no matter how great Bama is or not.

2 things I noticed in that videos. Danny White walks over to the area where people are jumping down....that's about 20-30 seconds in. Also, the guy in the sweet Lady Vols blue colored football jersey they showed earlier in the game was out walking on the field.

I prefer we don't do it from now on unless hosting a playoff game but that crowd made life miserable for Bama's offense all day, impressed recruits and was key in getting us that win so, like you, I won't complain too much. Coach Heupel sure seemed to enjoy celebrating with the fans.

A side note:

Jerry Palm is such a hack. He has refused to give the Vols any credit whatsoever for any win this year and still has them missing the CFP after the win last night. I am not going to link to his article because that would give him credit and more clicks. Just sick of his BS when we are a legitimately good team that deserves more credit than that. That is all.

Yes we do. That boy can ball

The play Brooks made was amazing. He was running behind the receiver, saw Milroe starting to throw, completely changed direction against his own momentum, broke in front of the receiver without making contact and secured the catch for the INT. Crazy smart AND athletic play by him. Just great stuff.

didnt Oregon look pretty shakey against poor competition?
They looked shakey against Idaho who is perennially terrible. As it turns out Idaho is now 13th in FCS with losses @ Oregon (FBS #1 by 10), @ Montana State (FCS #3 by 31), and @ UC Davis (FCS #5 by 2) with wins over Abilene Christian (FCS #15 by 3) and FBS Wyoming.

Then Oregon was shakey against Boise State (win by 3) and as it turns out Boise State is dang good. Oregon has dominated since then (exception is close win against Ohio State).

So, survive and advance until things start clicking I guess.

Ask him if Purdue is likely to get in.
