That’s the issue in VA and potentially GA depending on the details of the above. Not supposed to be purging voter rolls at scale less than 90 days before the electionI received a notice last week that a hearing will be held in GA that will delete my voting registration in GA, obviously a list of voters, and if I still qualify, I need to file a reason.
why is this being done now? they sure waited until last minute.
They must be maintained really good when they have to remove 86,000 votes. Doesn't sound like nothing from here. I bet you don't believe in showing an ID to vote.Virginia voter roles are meticulously maintained and documented. The likelihood of a non-citizen voting is as close to zero as in any state. The supposed purge is a tiny number of voters.
Honestly, what happens here is some citizens fill out their DMV paperwork wrong and probably had no intention to vote anyway because they don’t respond when the state asks them to correct it and show their papers again.
In short, like 99% of political stories, a whole lot is being made out of nothing. People too dumb to fill out paperwork probably shouldn’t vote anyway.
Removing citizens from voter rolls right before the election is significant anywhereBut we're being told it's insignificant. So it's significant now?
The executive order directed local election officials to initiate removals of any voters who indicated on DMV forms that they were noncitizens. Those voters are sent mailers giving them 14 days to affirm their citizenship or have their registrations canceled.
Earlier iterations of the program caused likely citizens to be removed from the rolls, the DOJ alleged in its lawsuit, pointing to recent comments by a county election official who said that they looked at dozens of voters who had been purged under the program’s protocols and found that many of them had repeatedly affirmed their citizenship, including some with social security numbers.
The lawsuit said that local election officials have no discretion under the program to prevent the cancellation of voters who fail to return the notices even if officials have reason to believe that those voters are US citizens.
I take it you don't understand how this works. It was an executive order, how long exactly does that “process” take
The EO was 90 days before the election and the purges happened after that, which is against the law. It’s not that complicatedI take it you don't understand how this works.
The cleaning is handled by local election boards and offices.
For instance, where I am, it is run by democrats.
The EO is two months old, and is actually just a normal process that happens frequently (it may actually be required by law). The election board here has not complied with it, intentionally trying to drag feet just to create this mess.
You clearly don't live in Virginia. Your commentary on things you don't understand is, as usual, worthless.
We’re cooked lol, people can’t wrap their heads around the very basic concept that purges that pick up U.S. citizens right before an election aren’t a good thing, nor do people even have the ability to Google this because their favorite Twitter personality said so and that’s enough80,000 dude, 80,000.
Again I ask you, how are we disenfranchising 80,000 dead people? We’re cooked lol, people can’t wrap their heads around the very basic concept that purges that pick up U.S. citizens right before an election aren’t a good thing, nor do people even have the ability to Google this because their favorite Twitter personality said so and that’s enough
It's about like low info voters who can't pass a simple civics probably shouldn't either. They can only potentially hurt the country.
Not a single “vote” was removed, much less 86k. It is strange that you are this wildly misinformed about the basic facts and yet seem to be some sort of mentalist capable of telling a stranger what they do and do not believe. Maybe touch grass at some point? They must be maintained really good when they have to remove 86,000 votes. Doesn't sound like nothing from here. I bet you don't believe in showing an ID to vote.
These "purges" have happened basically every year for as long as I remember. I even found an article about democrats complaining the same way in 2013.Not a single “vote” was removed, much less 86k. It is strange that you are this wildly misinformed about the basic facts and yet seem to be some sort of mentalist capable of telling a stranger what they do and do not believe. Maybe touch grass at some point?
In Virginia we show voter ID to vote and that is checked against the voter rolls which are regularly updated no matter which party is in control. There is no actual story here for either of our two political fog machines.
