Recruiting Football Talk VIII

He has said forever, back when he coached high school, he doesn’t want to coach professional football. We will see if those sentiments stay true.

Deion isnt the only highly recognizable college coach that cares about himself, he’s just outlandish with it. I think its more common than people realize. Freeze is one and there was a lot of people on here that was hoping we got him during our fulmer ad days.

To be fair, Deion has said a lot of things that he ended up lying about. He's not dumb though, when a camera or reporter is there he knows how to play the media to keep attention where he wants it.

Colorado will win 4-5 games at best. They aren’t sniffing any playoff races.
Only person in the media that I’ve heard “playoff and Colorado” in the same sentence is joel klatt (buff alum). Majority of the media has pegged them as borderline bowl qualifiers, nothing more. The media as a whole hasnt over hyped deion and the buffs. The media has given him and buffs over-ambundance of attention. Attention (lights, camera, action) and hype (playoff contenders, big 12 champ aspirations, etc.) are two different definitions.

Unless Riley leaves that job won't be available for a good while. He should have a pretty good year this season RB is the only position with a brand new face on offense, the rest of the starters have been at USC for at least a year.
Plus he added the UCLA DC. The UCLA defense was good last season .

This is what they will look like. I think they will be flying out of Missouri so I am not sure if they will be practicing. Keep looking up....
I'm close enough to McGee Tyson that we should be able to see them. Most flight paths go over our area. Pretty cool to see them. The C-17 Globemaster was awesome.

Yep, that's honestly a best case for us. They can't play vanilla because they don't wanna lose the upset so we get to see a bit more of what they wanna do and they still win/pull away so won't drop in rankings.

Also Arkansas looking like they might be a team with a pulse this year. Was just a cupcake, but nearly 700 yards of offense and 70 points (most coming in the 1st half) is a big improvement over last year.

Their highest yards was 510 against FIU in fact 687 Total yards is now the most of any team Pittman's had there...
To call Ark Pine Bluff a cupcake is an understatement there are high schools in Arkansas that can beat that team

UAPB is awful. Worst of worst in FCS

Yeah truthfully ND State is a better team (traditionally) than WCU. So Colorado with so much turnover having a close game wasn't as surprising as NC State struggling imo.
NC State didnt look near as good as they thought they would.

They were down in thr 4th quarter and WCU's d-line had them on skates... it's going to be a bloodbath in Charlotte. Calling it. Horrible match up for them.

Their skull guys are good, but we may knock McCall out of the game like Slovis.

I would be a lot less annoyed about it if that was who he lost to.

Paul Hornung is the most undeserving Heisman winner to ever do it.

59 of 111 for 53.2% with 917 yards, 3 TDs and 13 INTs
94 carries for 420 yards and 6 TDs

This was on a Notre Dame team that finished 2-8 that year too (102nd of 111th teams)

Majors on a 10-1 Tennessee team should have gotten the nod for sure.
36 of 59 for 61% with 552 yards, 5 TDs and 3 INTs
108 carries for 549 yards and 7 TDs

Absolutely zero reason you hand that to Hornung, he shouldn't have even been in the top 5 finalist.

Fans on a message board vs head coach during a game/press conference? If you can draw parallels between how those two groups are acting that is ALWAYS going to speak very poorly about the coach.
He isnt the first coach to do it and he wont be the last. Its funny seeing people get so emotional about how he operates. Hes always been that, always. Opposing fan bases care more than the buffs fans do. I dont agree on his philosophy of running a program, because it doesnt appear to have long-term sustainability.

But idc, b/c its not my favorite team. Buffs (fans & admin) havent had sh!t in almost 30 years and they have no standard on how a winning program operates. So they living it up with a famous person as their head coach. More than likely it will crash and burn. I hope his deion does fine at Colorado, but idt it will end will for the buffs.

WCU ran out of gas on defense. NC State was in real trouble til that happened

Meteor ☄️ is first choice. Otherwise, under protest, I'll have to...

...I almost said "root for the prancing Yell-Bois to stop ND from making the playoffs." But yuck.

Boy...they have a bit of a cakewalk schedule for the playoffs don't they especially with FSU already having a loss. ND wins tomorrow night and there is a real chance they won't face another top 25 team until USC

ND ran a hellva year-long media campaign for Hornung. I wonder if it was the first. They had their schedule set up to play in about all of the biggest media markets and they hyped Hornung to those newswriters. He made the SI cover.

Majors' injury prolly kept him from winning, iirc. Distorted the stat comparison.

Majors is right that Brown should have won.

Hornung did well with the Packers. Lombardi built his offense around him.

Right. If NC State makes it a game and we escape with a couple point margin of victory, then I think the season predictions will need to be reviewed.
Each game stands alone. I was at the Pitt game in 2022 where we could have put it away and didn’t. Pitt team goes 9-4, and we end up beating UF and Bama.

Of course I wasn't living during the season Hornung won the Heisman like some of you were but he led Notre Dame in:

Passing
Rushing
Scoring
Kick-off and Punt Returns
Played defense
Plus kicked 14 extra points

Also given the nickname "Golden Boy"

No way your beating that.🧐
