there are a handful of small 1 to 3 inch branches which start at about 12 to 13 feet up. The first real branches (8 inch or so) don't start until 35 to 40 feet up.

Yeah I know. I was just thinking if someone on VN was into woodworking or needed some oak cut to their own dimensions that I would put it out here first. It is one of the straightest trees I have seen so it would be ideal for a portable sawmill.
